Greg's Story
Wow... It's been an interesting ride since the class of '87 parted ways. Not having much of a defined plan for life back in 87, the results have been quite unexpected.
After dropping out of UofC - again that lack-of-a-plan thing, life for me moved in several directions and now I'm now a business owner in San Diego, CA. I work in the Ports and marine terminals industry - a career that has granted me the pleasure of working for Port clients around the world. A strange occupation that started as a mining equipment designer at a small fabrication shop in Calgary, and then the Lafarge cement plan in Exshaw - you've all seen it driving to Banff. From there I worked for a couple different consulting and engineering companies, all related to conveyors, mining, shipping, etc, before starting my own firm. We are focussed on problem solving and long range planning - somewhat ironic considering the random direction life has taken me to get where I am today.

married in Calgary in 1995 - now divorced, and have two wonderful children - Nate and Carter. My now-ex and I moved to New Orleans in 1998 for work. I was one of the unfortunate (or fortunate depending on how you look at it) victims of Hurricane Katrina and transferred with work to San Diego while my house was repaired. I fell in love with the city and couldn't go back.
I left the company I was working for in San Diego and started my own firm in the hopes of gaining added freedom - it seems natural when I look back at life's progression from the small fabrication shop in Calgary.
I'm dating a wonderful woman here in San Diego, still learning how to surf (far more challenging that I thought it would be!), and try to get up to the local mountains every year to keep my skiing legs healthy.
I guess that's about it. I hope everyone from '87 is doing well - whatever 'well' means to you - and maybe we'll all meet up at the next reunion. Did I miss it??
