Gregorio's Story
Life
You knew me back in the day as; Greg Potter.
Gregorio Lonewolf ~ is my Cherokee name, hence the name I go by. Since graduation, I have been fortunate to have traveled and lived all over the US (New York, Detroit, Miami, St. Louis, Chicago, L.A., San Antonio, Denver etc.) and I lived in Korea & Japan for 3 years. Also spending lots of time in all of the islands in the Carribeans.
I settled in San Francisco in 1980 as my permanent base/home. I have 2 Beautiful daughters. Their names are; Shanta Shatiel (means: Blossoming Flower) & Ntzaki Johare (means Precious Jewel/Rare Gem).
Shanta came into my life during my 1st marriage to Beverly Williams and living in Queens, New York in 1978. Shortly thereafter the Air Force stationed me at Hill AFB just north of Salt Lake, Utah.
Ntzaki came into my life in 1980 and married to my 2nd wife, Lorraine McKnight, who is from San Francisco, and where we had moved to from Utah and my discharge from the Air Force.
Things get a bit complicated after this and thru out the 80's. A 3rd marriage, to Barbara Hubbard of San Francisco by way of Houston, Tx. She went to high school with Archie Bell & The Drells. (Remember the song; Tighten Up?) A 3rd marriage which probably never should have happened. Mostly it was a very good relationship outside of her children, which became the main reasons for our failure of a relationship. When does one learn? Only after repeated attempts to finding the right answer's does one learn.
I met my wife of 28 yrs. in MaryAnn Beverly. We met when she brought her car in for serviceing while I was the Service Director for Serramonte Oldsmobile. I was smitten with her heavenly good looks and sweet smile and soothing voice. And, yes I was with #3 when we met.
Complications, did I not say this? MaryAnn and I decided thru our past failed marriages that a piece of paper a marriage it does not make. So even though we are not legally married, 28 yrs is a long time. One that we are both committed to shareing until the end of life.
Keeping in line with my own musical interests and love, MaryAnn Beverly also happens to be Frankie Beverly's cousin, of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, band. If you are not familiar with the bands music visit them on YouTube. Same with my band, Funkanauts. Also visit me on YouTube, Gregorio Lonewolf.
Shameful plugs, huh?
MaryAnn is now in early retirement from UCSF as a Radialogist or X-Ray Technician. University of California San Francisco is mainly a medical school and with the new campuses being built in Mission Bay (SF Giants baseball stadium is nearby) and has the countries Stem Cell Research labs on campus.
I am a Recording & Sound Engineer. Co-owner of Judah Records and Scorpion Tale Productions with Scorpion Sound Studios. I am also a musician and play Bass, Keyboards, Percussion & Guitar. A Band Manager ~ Promoter & Producer. I Graduated From The California Recording Institute. Which is where I also learned Multi-Media.
Currently I am the band manager and producer of the Bay Area Funk band, Funkanauts. Who are signed to my label, Judah Records. I also play intsrumentally in the band on occassion. February of 2006 the Funkanauts with Judah Records had signed a Label to Label / Distribution deal with PrimeUSA Records. In the interim we are currently releasing our first CD album on the Judah Records / PrimeUSA Label titled, "Reclaiming The Pyramids."
Things have changed by now, 9-5-2010, as the Funkanauts go. Three of our members left the band in January of 2009 when I had an opportunity to sign the band to a deal with SONY Red, a subsidery of SONY Records. This left us short a drummer, bass player and keyboard/horn player. We also left PrimeUSA Records to continue soldiering on only with our label, Judah Records. And doing q...Expand for more
uite well thus far.
After interviewing and auditions for replacements, the Funkanauts kept performing and getting bigger and better gigs, and have finally settled in on new band mates. All of whom have worked out quite nicely. New videos are in the makings and will be posted soon enough, so keep an eye and ear out.
From 2000 to 2003 I lived in the Haight. "Summer Of Love" fame for those who recall. Living across from Golden Gate Park as my front yard. On Feb. 18th 2010, my wife, MaryAnn, and I celebrated our 28th anniversary and have a nice home in The Lakeview District of San Francisco. I still play sports, ie: City League Softball and Basketball. Martial Artist since I was 10 yrs. old (45+ yrs). Pool League, etc.
In November of 2009 I stepped down as the Branch Manager for Alliant Event Services. Now just the Assistant Branch Manager and an Audio Visual Technician with Alliant covering the San Francisco Bay Area. As well as Northern Nevada, Oregon and Washington. We handle many events for many clients. Including the Soul Train Music Awards. The Music Awards Show for the country of India. Which in the year (2005) I had here at the Oakland Arena (Warriors) and next to the Coliseum (Raider's). This was the first time that this was being performed & televised outside of India. We are a National Company that specializes in Audio, Visual, Lighting and Computer Rental Services.
November of 2009 I went to work for UCSF at the new Mission Bay Campus doing Audio Visual and as a Meeting Rooms Captain. What a title, it simply means I make all meeting rooms and convention rooms set with what is required by that client or UC Regents meetings. MaryAnn and I had tried for a few years to make this happen and a chance meeting on my part with the right person at the right time made this happen.
Currently a part time employee by both Alliant and UCSF. Update: I have been asked, and have accepted on October 3rd 2010 to be the new supervisor of my Dept. at UCSF. So now I am a full time employee of UCSF, Mission Bay Conference Center working within the Department of "Campus Life Services."
The Band and health and wife takes up the rest of my time.
So far 2010 has been a medical mystery for me. Many years of physical activity and sports injuries, as well as some work related injuries. I have all year been experiencing numbness and inability to use my arms/hands and legs. I have been and am currently being tested for everything. Diabettes. Prostate. Colon. Lungs. Nerological. You name it. I am being tested for it. My recent eye exam has netted me some new eyes, namely now I wear glasses. As my granddaughter said to me when she saw this; You are getting old aren't you?
The past 2 years I have had pneumonia several times and severe enough for hospitaization. Pneumonia also occured twice during November of 2004. I almost did not make it thru this first battle with pneumonia but did so. Back in 1988 I had crashed racing my 1985 IROC Z28 Camaro at Infineon Raceway in a SCCA race, nearly losing my life. Racing retirement became of this as I had raced cars off and on since high school.
That is about it in a nut shell for now. A small nut shell. A lttle humor.
Lastly, I have never lost the love in my heart for one of our classmates, and she knows who she is.
I'd Love to hear from anyone in the class of '74 or even 71 - 72 & 73.
