how can we be both skating and dying?
But I got to get me out of here
This place is full of dirty old men
And the navigators with their mappy maps
And moldy heads and pissing on sugarcubes
---when you trust your television,
then you got what you've got,
cause when they own the information,
oh, they can bend it all they want.
---It is natural for the passage of time to affect human perspective. Often we tire of this passing moment and wish to halt this inevitable progress. Some find solace in rejecting the annual celebration of birth and thereby deny their position in the continuum. Cling not to this fallacious endeavor, but rejoice! Praise veritas! Seek the true perspective of each birthday... you don't get older, you get presents!

I will marry just once
And if it doesn't work out
Give him half of my stuff
It's fine with me
We said eternity
And I will go to my grave
With the love that I gave
Not just some melody line
On a radio wave
It dissipates
And soon evaporates
But home life doesn't change
I mumble a lot offstage; I'm a mumbler. If I'm walking with a friend and I say something, he won't hear me. He'll say, "What?" So I'll say it again, but once again he doesn't hear me, so he says, "What?" But really it's just some insignificant thing that I'm saying, but now I'm yelling, "That tree is far away!"
I would imagine if you could understand Morse code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy. You'd say "Shut up! I don't understand! 'Share'...'the'...'we'...'too' -- I don't get it!"
I hope the next time I move I get a real easy phone number. Something like 22222222. I would say, "Sweet." People would say, "Mitch, how do I get a hold of you?" I would say, "Just press 2 for a while, and when I answer, you will know that you have pressed 2 enough.
One time a guy handed me a picture of himself, and he said, "Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture of you is of when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I am older." "You son of a gun, how'd you pull that off? Let me see that camera."
i'm gonna go down, for you. burn and burn and burn and i'm gonna rise like a phoenix. i'ma effin rise like a phoenix, like jesus, oh christ! i love it. philadelphia! -matt nathanson".
