Gregg's Story

Life Let's see..I am married with 2 boys, 9 and 14. Live in the Palm Springs area for almost 20 years now. I'm General Sales Manager for a Palm Springs radio group. Started as a DJ, but saw there was more stability in Sales. Got into radio after going to Golden West College and UCI. Those who knew me probably thought I would be a Dentist or Doctor, which I thought too, but got into theatre at GW and then got my degree in Theatre Arts from Irvine. First radio job was in Lake Tahoe in 1984, but moved to Palm Springs in '86. I've worked for the same company now for 18 years. Coming up on 47 (hard to believe), but still like to play sports. Tennis was the big thing in High School, but have to admit, I haven't picked up a racquet in years. Golf, something I started at age 13 is the sport of choice now, along with Softball. In fact, the one regret I have is that I didn't play baseball in High School. I enjoyed tennis, but baseball is my favorite sport. Coaching my kids keeps me in the game. The years prior to radio I was a bartender at the Laff Stop in Newport, of course while going to school. Got my degree in early '83 so being an actor was on the list, but those Columbia School of Broadcasting ads must of had an influence on me. I actually went to a school that I believe still exits, The Academy of Radio Broadcasting. Still did a few plays in school and some commercial work, but the DJ thing was regular. Tahoe was great, being a skier helped make the 2 years there go by fast. Skiing is something I picked up at Golden West College. Knees not so good these days, b...Expand for more
ut my oldest likes the sport so I hit Big Bear a couple of times a year. I guess that classifies me as a sporto, still. Does that term still exist in High School? One thing I do remember well, is when I chose not to play football my Junior year, I helped coach the girls tennis team. I have to admit hanging with the girls wasn't too bad. What I do remember is becoming friends with classmates that would graduate after '77. I'm looking forward to the Class of '77 Reunion, but it would be great to see the classmates from '76,'77 and '78. Maybe even '79. My brother Mitch was the Class of '80, but he lives 2 doors down from me so I see him all the time. Ha Ha. Maybe a 70's Reunion would be even better. My wife and I have a side business along with another friend of mine who's in Radio, called Desert Dining Club. It's a dining card that gets the cardholder discounts at participating restaurants and golf courses. It's allowed my wife to be a stay at home mom, which was great while the kids were young. My oldest starts High School in the Fall, which is probably why I signed up on this site. Can't believe it's been almost 30 years since graduating. One thing I will try to do this year is make the Homecoming Football game; the Varsity jacket is a little tight so I'll have to let my wife wear it. Well, whoever reads this I'm sure we were friends in school, even though I really haven't kept in touch with anyone from school, not even Dave Moon who lived across the street from me. Did see some friends at the 20 year reunion. So Dave if you're still a cop, I didn't do it!
