Life Wow. It's hard to believe that nearly 35 years have passed since graduation. Some of us have died and the others are scattered toward's the four corners of the Earth. Well, I landed just 25 miles north of Franklin in Indianapolis where I have lived for the last 30 years. After college I landed in the Data Processing field for Farm Bureau Insurance, then to American States Insurance, and then in 1979 I took my current position with Indiana University, at the IUPUI campus, where I continue to work in the Information/Technology field. The pay is exceptional so that is why I stayed in Indiana. No other reason is valid for a single man to stay in this sad sorry state. No marriages for me, no children either, and no regrets. Hey marriage is great if that's what you need. To me it's only a piece of paper giving you legal arguments for various issues. I am constantly amazed at the number of times people marry and divorce, repeatedly, until I suppose he or she gets it correct. For the record I have been in a committed relationship for 25 years. We don't need to validate it with anybody, it's just something we continue to do. So I stayed single until I was nearly 28, when one night at a night club I was introduced to the love of my life. Who said you can't find love at a nightclub? Speaking of nightclubs, I was a fixture at the clubs here, dancing the hours away, which I believe is now called "clubbing". I miss those days too! 50 year olds dancing to dance music isn't that attractive these days. Then came the pivotal turning 30 years old. 2 years into a relationship, turning 30, and suddenly those retirement benefits, health benefits, etc started to become important. Home ownership was on the horizon, and much to my horror I became a 30-something guy looking at investment opportunities. Then before I knew it I turned 40. The horror of it all.
