Gregory Cole:  

After leaving Milne I went to SUNY Plattsburgh for my BA in biology, then took off for a few years to play a lot of tennis and just take it easy. I then went to Florida State University for a PhD in biology. The 4 years at FSU turned me into a diehard lifelong FSU fan and a fan of living in the south. But after graduating from FSU I have lived in many places, starting with postdoctoral study at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, then faculty positions at medical schools in Charleston SC (Medical University of SC) and Columbus OH (Ohio State). Again longing for the south, in 2000 I moved to Raleigh NC, an area of the country I had always thought would be a great place to live. I started a new phase in my professional life, accepting a position at North Carolina Central University in Durham to help the school develop their biomedical sciences research infrastructure. In December 2019 I stepped down as Chair of the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences and currently serve as the Director of the Integrated Biosciences PhD program, and spend the rest of my time teaching and doing research.
