I am a ecletic musician, I enjoy all styles of music I do session work,live performance,musical workshop & clinic consultant. I am a Instrumentalist,vocalist & producer.I play keyboards,flute,alto & tenor sax. I was born an raised in Pittsburgh Pa U.S.A I stared my musical experience at age 5 in child vocal group called "the Soul Dimensions" the group preformed by popular African American Do-Wop,Rhythm Blues & Soul groups from the 60's,70's & 80's we even preformed some of our own compositions. In elementary school age 9 I started playing clarinet in grade7 I started playing saxophone this is when my interest in instrumental music began. Growing up in Pittsburgh was like growing up in a University of Practical & Legitimate music. There were many band and mentoring programs available to young musicians. ie.. The Bidwell Youth & Cultural Center in Manchester on Pittsburgh's Northside,The Pittsburgh Public Schools Centers For The Musically Talented,The Ozanam Strings Concert Orchestra,The Homewood Brushton Jazz Workshop just to name a few. The programs provided excellent mentors. ie.. Sister Mary Francis Assi founder of the Ozanam Strings who was a close Allie of Dr. Suzuki famous for his Child Ear Training Course she brought Count Basie,Maynard Ferguson to preform concerts with us. Atlantic City Convention Center Alantic City New Jersey In 2005 I started mentoring young artist in Saskatoon's west side communities Pleasant Hill,Riversdale & Westview most of them because of the demo graphics of Saskatoon are of Cree,Ojbway,Dene,Matee& Black Indian decent.( Recording & Producing workshop format) We have open musical workshops covering recording,producing & the entertainment industry musical theory ie rhythm,harmony&melodic ear training an apply these technics in session. We study literature & journalism to expand our minds & vocabulary to develop sharp clear minds,self esteem & strong spirits we don't limit ourselves to mainstream styles but try to stay eclectic and embrace all styles of music . ( Musical Clinic & Workshop format) <first 10 minutes> a) (Introduction)- I introduce myself an give some background info on my education, experience, artist I've played with and some of the venues i played,studio production and session work. b) (Clinic ) last < 30 minutes > - "subjects" 1) the importance of art & culture for morality & wellness. 2) being eclectic an keeping an open mind to all styles of music, dance & art. 3) responsibility and influence of the artist as part of the community. 4) dealing with stage presents, professionalism discipline & dependability. 5) the responsibility of being part of a band or show case ie.. no drinking or drugs. 6) nervousness ie.. butterflies, pre-show jitters. 7) the importance of aesthetics and a healthy life style. 8) open for questions and discussion. (intermission) < 20 minutes> c) (Workshop) last <60 minutes> "exercises " 1) singing and playing in tune. 2) counting and rhythm exercises, basic melodic & harmonic musical theories. 3) choosing material & style suited for the voice & personality of the artist, 4) stage presents ie.. using space during a performance and finding your inner performer. 6) have a jam session with those in attendance".
