Grizel's Story
After HS I went straight to UNLV- had a great time! but that landed me out of school. Decided to work for a while until I figured out what I wanted to study. While figuring things out, moved to Florida, met my first husband and gave birth to the first true love of my life, my son Richard, who is now 21 (how time flies)! After a couple of years in Florida, moved back to Las Vegas, worked as a medical office manager for four years, but decided I wanted to live someplace with four seasons. So I packed up and moved to Denver, CO. Richard and I lived there for 12 years, during which time I went back to school and got my bachelor's in Psychology. Immediately after graduating I went back to school and got my elementary teaching certificate in a lateral degree program. Taught 3 years in self contained classroom for Spanish-speaking children who were being prepared for an English...Expand for more
speaking classroom. Talk about your hard work! The kids were great; educational system not so great. Decided to move on. In my continued search for seasonal colors, I moved Richard and myself to NC...2 hours from the beach and 4 hours from the mountains. The best of both worlds! I got a job leasing apartments...which led to my meeting the second love of my life, James. He and I are living happily in Cary, NC, both working and back in school. He's working on his Ph.D in environmentally and economically sustainable Forestry and I working on a Master's in International Studies with an emphasis in environmental sustainability...we both hope to land jobs working over-seas. Richard decided he missed Colorado (he'd been there since he was 4) and moved back a year ago. We'll have to see what the next couple of years bring...hopefully fulfilling jobs in far away countries.
