Gus's Story

Life Us Army Officer, retired. Retired Business Consultant for the Washington, DC area. Married for 46 years, 3 sons, 9 grandchildren. Avid camper (own a 38' 5th wheel trailer) and traveler Military Graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from A-State in 1971. Went into the Army as a 2d LT in the Field Artillery. First tour in Europe in a nuclear missile unit (I was actually in charge of the warheads! - boy, did that make me a nervous wreck). Came back to Ft Sill, OK in 1975 and was a battery commander for 33 months. Went to Officer Advanced Course in 1979, then off to ...Expand for more
Korea for another year of Battery command (I'm a gluten for punishment). Returned to Ft Sill where I served on the Artillery Board, in charge of testing tactical computer software programs. Went to Washington, DC (stopped in Ft Ben Harrison, IN for 5 months for Data Processing Course) as a staff officer in the Army HQ's data processing center. Stayed there (basement of the Pentagon) for four years, then spent my last couple of years as a staff officer in the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army (I was a deputy program manager for an Army installation standardization project).
