Gus's Story
After graduating from Lakes, I just hung out for awhile and working out of the Fort Lewis commissary. In 1974, I decided to join the Army and start a real career. My career management field was communications and thats where I stayed the entire time I was in. Promotions came pretty quick but there was also alot of dirty work and scrubbing. Didn't travel very much though. Mainly stationed in the US. Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas and Hawaii. One overseas tour in Korea. I spent most of my time in service in Hawaii with the 25th ID and the 125th Signal Bn. While serving, I got married to Ramie in 1977. Together we raised 3 gorgeous daughters, Kamalani, Piilani and Hokulani and all are on their own. We also have 3 beautiful grandkids (one good-looking grandson and two beautiful granddaughters). My daughter and grandkids mean the world to me as they keep me going on and on and on. They make life worth living. rom 26 yrs to 24 yrs. After I went over 22 yrs I decided to retire from the Army in 1997 from Fort Hood, TX and move back to Las Vegas where my family was residing while I was in TX. While retired, I worked many different security jobs until the Post Office called me and hired me to work. It took me several months to get into the Post Office after retirement. I currently pick up the mail in the blue boxes on street side and take them back to the dock to be processed in the plant. Very simple job and I have been doing it for over 13 yrs. In seven yrs I will probably retire and deliver newspapers for a living. I got divorced in 2006 and never remarried. I still reside in Las Vegas and love every moment of it. I still look the same as people tell me that have known for awhile. Hardly any change. Not very exciting but that my story since graduating from Lakes. At least I can say one thing, I never became a beach bum in Hawaii like I told Mrs. Nadal before graduating. For those who read this thanks for taking the time. PEACE OUT
