Carlos's Story
Life
somewhere over the last couple of years i have met and continue to interact with high school and college classmates...i put my hand and my heart out at every turn, and i always hope for and wish for the best...i am an easy person to get along with...i have never in my life asked for anything more from my classmates then a chance to be their friend..i want you all to know that before classmates..i did write letters and i did attempt to meet my friends ...only since classmates has this endeavor been more fruitful and much more satisfying...i thank god for classmates...the chance to interact and socialize with friends from long ago is satisfying in a soulful way....you know everyone talks of winning the lottery or what they got for christmas....for me the lottery or christmas gifts are all the times i see an email from a past classmate. sometimes i get two or three a week. (Yes it is all too funny how i am always looking over a yearbook, or an old photo in my photo album....or the photos i posted on the class reunion)i think how lucky i am to have known these people...i think of dancing each time i recall a voice or a smile from the past...all of my classmates had a hand in making me who i am today...without them life would seem a little incomplete. let me count a few from high school- lori,jackie,lina,lisa,mary,patricia,marie,maria,grace...from college-maria,shari,maria,grace,rhonda,nancy,sharon...from grade school- both susans,kim,donna,patricia,gina....well..what's new...i think what is new in my life is all my old friends from school...i missed them and their stories for too many years...i hope to fill in the gaps....regardless of where you live and what you do and what you have become...i consider each and everyone of you a part of my family.
School
i have always had an affinity for numbers. I think it has caused a great deal of stress on my english ski...Expand for more
lls.grade school thru high school i loved math. i loved the logic involved and the emotionless interaction of numbers. This all changes after high school....
College
the first year was easy and it seemed perfect. The second year things started to unravel- i don't know if it was because i was working so many different jobs to make ends meet or my social skills developed and between dating and working...it only left sleep in the classroom...i guess i bit off too much at once...i actually was the student senate president for pace university at white plains...what a crash...i always said that after i am fifty- i will try again...at least for an associates degree...
after my military service- i did at least get certified for computer programming...it was such a long time ago- pascal, fortran, and cobol...the world has changed so much since then...me with it...
Military
wow...during my tour of duty- i had two military occupation skills. tank crewman for m60a1 armored tank(mos 1811) and a military information maintenance and management systems operator(mimms for short).i rose from private to sargeant in less than four years, i was a tank commander in less than two years. i perfected my tank skills in the fourth year enough to best the rest of the tanks in my unit. my work in mimms helped to establish my future in systems works from mainframes all the way to personal computers. as a side note, the discipline and dedication instilled in me by the corps always keeps me thinking nothing is impossible.i lost alot of fellow tank friends from camp lejeune to the lebanon bombing..i was stationed in 29 palms, my friends were stationed in camp lejuene..they were picked by the powers to be to go. i think of them everyday....i think of their time with me training in louisville, ky, and the football games we played every time we had a break from training. god bless their souls...
