Gwen's Story
College
Completed BS degree in Physical Education with secondary
majors in history and recreation, Gradudated in 1952, Cum
Laud. Graduated in 1962 with a MS in Education specializ-
ing counseling. Completed an additional 20 post Masters
units in special education and related subjects.
Taught 17 years at California State University, Fresno
in the Recreation Administration Program, specializing in
theraputic recreation, proposal and grant development,
organized camp management and funding. Retired in 1991.
Received two meritorious teaching awards. Chaired an inter-college grant involving three U. S. colleges, PRODD. Served
on curriculum committees,...Expand for more

committees. Retired with the status of Assistant Professor.
Awards have included but not limited to the Lutheran Steward-
ship of Life Award (1957), Fresno Volunteer of the Year (1968), Fresno City and County Commission on the Status of Women nominee for Women of the Year (1972), Autistic Society
Professional of the Year (1989),CANHC Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding devotion and service to Learning Disabled Individuals, Outstanding Service Award by the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Commission and Juvenile Court and
Probation Dept. (1978) and the Lincoln Award by the Fresno
County Republican Party (1998).
