Gwyneth's Story

Hey ERSH gang! I do go by Gwyneth never Gwen [shudders] and though I've not moved far, I've travel extensively, and most who knew me would be surprised to find out I'm a Middle School Teacher Librarian in Howard County! I'm not on the book of the faces but I do like to Tweet. My loooong professional bio: Gwyneth A. Jones, aka The Daring Librarian, is a blogger, a Tweeter, an International Ed Tech keynote speaker, trope and meme archivist, creator of content, a citizen of advocacy, and a resident of social media. Gwyneth is a Google Certified Innovator, a PBS / MPT American Graduate Champion, and the author of the award winning The Daring Librarian blog. In recognition of being a change agent within her field, Ms. Jones was named an Innovator and a Mover & Shaker by Library Journal Magazine, a Gale/Cengage New Leader, and the Best of the Best and a Visionary Leader by Teacher Librarian Magazine. She was honored to have been elected twice to the ISTE Board of Directors representing all PK-12 educators and school librarians. Her work & writings have been featured in the New York Times, NEA Today Magazine, Information Today Magazine, The Washington Post, and the Huffington Post. Admittedly, she'€™s also a goofball, a geek, and ridiculously humble. After graduating from Towson University undergrad & grad school she worked for Columbia Magazine and The Baltimore Magazine in advertising and graphic design. Later she worked in public relations and special events for Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Leaving a career in advertising, public relations, and marke...Expand for more
ting to pursue a career in technology education she now uses effective design and communication skills gained through her experiences in the business world to communicate her love of research and information gathering, reading, and technology with her students, staff, and community. It has been an honor to be asked to be the opening keynote speaker at several Ed Tech conferences in the Midwest, the South, New England, Palm Springs, UCLA, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Australia, and in Ocean City, Maryland. Follow her professional sites on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Flickr, Slideshare, and pretty much every other new form of professional communication and social media that is out there...except, as mentioned, Facebook. They broke up years ago. Google: "Dear Facebook, We Need to Talk" to read that exciting story. In her spare time, Gwyneth enjoys reading, traveling, digital photography, graphic design, music, Welsh stuff, British TV, web design, and writing extensive and exhaustive biographies of herself in the third person. Yes, she's been married..more than some, less than others - but the drive thru in Vegas doesn't count! No, she doesn't have (or want) kiddos She's says "It's been awesome to see my students grow up, come back to visit, go to graduations & weddings and basically never have to feed them, clothe them, send them to college or bail them outta jail!" She's very proud of being a Marylander and her goal beyond more traveling is to retire at her Coastal Cottage in Ocean View, DE near Bethany Beach and chill. Then travel some more!
