Hmm, I am 37, born & raised in Detroit Michigan, then later moved to Westland Michigan where I spent my childhood up until the age of 13. I went to Nankin Mills, Perrinville & Emerson Middle Schools. My best friends were Stephanie Aho, Maureen [aka Moe] Murphy and Renee Debus. We lived on Benson Drive which sooo rocked Westland. We had some good times on that street & every chance I get to go back home to Michigan I always go to my old neighborhood! What a difference between Vegas & Michigan there is let me tell you! I will never forget "building snow forts" in freezing cold weather and throwing snowballs at my girls until odd hours of the night! Something you just do not do in Las Vegas (not to mention I am much much older now LOL!!) So...I was 13 and had just finished attending one year at Emerson (6th grade i'm thinkin??) and my Father who worked at the Renaissance Center (Westin Hotels Downtown) got a job transfer to Vegas so we up and moved! Talk about saaaaad! Yeah..I was not a happy camper leaving my friends behind! I have lived here ever since. I attended Burkholder Junior High & then attended Basic High School both in Henderson, NV & then went on to UNLV College for about 3 years studying Psychology & Hotel Mgmt and that was that. Do I miss Michigan? Sure. The green, the pretty trees, the neat older style homes, the history and the friendly people. Vegas is just the complete opposite!
