Hampton's Story

Life My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have 13 children and 30 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 2 grandchildren on the way. We live in Waresboro, Georgia. We moved here from Arkansas because one of my sister's had cancer and it was bad, so we picked up and moved here. I guess my destiny brought me back closer to home, since both of my parents have passed away. When I lived in Alaska, I always came home every year for 2 weeks to a month to see family. I live here now and get to see family more, but sometimes wish I was back in Alaska. I have a daughter and 2 grandchildren still in Alaska, so I get to go visit. When I lived in Alaska, there was a wildfire in 1996 that burned over 38,000 acres and over 400 homes and businesses. I lost my home and 2 businesses ,but it made me stronger. I am battling AML (acute myeloid leukemia) cancer since February 2011, been thru 7 different kinds of chemo, my youngest brother, Junior was my stem cell donor in November 2011, came back from Nashville, TN after 4 months in the hospital in February 2012 and thought I was good to go on with life. 3rd week of April, I got the call that the cancer was back, went thru 4 more months of chemo and we pray everyday that I stay in remission, but now I have to have surgery on my neck for some issues and we pray that they are okay, but I am thankful for everyday that I wake up. Life is good. Would love to visit my old classmates. New info: Got results back from biopsy and it is Post Transplant Lymphoma Disorder (Non-Hodgkins-Cancer), so I am going thru chemo again. I pray everyday that I will be ok and able to go see all of my grand kids and great grand kids. Then in August 2013 I got Shingles in my right eye and the right side of my face and head, it is very painful, I couldn't open my right eye for almost a month, then it was a crack, still having vision problems with my eye and they say it could take up to a year to get over it because I am a transplant patient. Between my husband, God and my family I will be ok, every challenge makes you stronger. God will never give you more than you can handle. I have always believed that you can win any battle as long as GOD is holding your hand. Thanks for being my friend and classmate.
