Hans's Story

Hans Fritz Hunt - Lieutenant Colonel(Retired), U.S. Army Military Police Corps Enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves in March 1986 as a Security Policeman. After serving 18 months with the Air Force Reserves, then joined the Utah Army National Guard. Received a Regular Army commission in 1989 through the Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Military Studies. Member of the ROTC National Military Honor Society of Scabbard and Blade. Graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and a recipient of the George C. Marshall National ROTC Leadership Award. Military schooling includes: USAF Basic Training, USAF Security Police School (Honor Graduate), Ranger School, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Army Airborne School, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Commander Course, Infantry Mortar Platoon Course, Military Police Officer Advance Course, Protective Service Training Course, Combined Arms Service Staff School (CAS3), Graduate Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Level I and II Course, Graduate from the German Language Course at the Defense Language Institute, attended German NATO Feldjaeger (Military Police) Course in Germany and graduate of the Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC). Assignments include: USAF Security Policeman (Reserves) 419th Tactical Fighter Wing, Hill AFB, Utah, and Alpha Company, 19th Special Forces Group (Utah Army National Guard), Utah. Active Duty Assignments include: Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Alpha Company 2d Battalion 15th Infantry; Assistant S-3 (Training) 2d Battalion 15th Infantry; Mortar Platoon Leader, HHC 2d Battalion 15th Infantry, Schweinfurt, Germany; and Detachment Commander of the Platoon Run Maneuver Exercise (PRIME), 280th Base Support Battalion, Schweinfurt, Germany. Deployed as a Bradley Platoon Leader with elements from the First Raider Brigade, 3d Infantry Division to Operation Desert Storm, Saudi Arabia. In 1993, branched transferred from Infantry to Military Police. First assignment as an MP Officer was Law Enforcement Operations Officer/Installation Detention Facility (IDF) Commander for the Provost Marshal's Office, Fort Clayton, Panama. Commanded the 549th Military Police Company at Fort Davis & Fort Clayton, Panama. Attended the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, California, where German Linguist Certificate was earned. Served as the Executive Officer, 5th Military Police Battalion, Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Kaiserslautern, Germany. While with CID, deployed for a short period to Bosnia and Kosovo. Then served as Provost Marshal(Chief of Military Police), 6th Area Support Group, Stuttgart, Germany. Served as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM and taught Army ROTC. Served as Chief, Operations, Lessons Learned Division, Center for Army Lessons Learned, Fort Leavenworth, KS. Last active duty assignment - served in Korea as the 2nd Infantry Division Provost Marshal(Chief of Military Police) and the Director of Emergency Services for the United States Army Garrison- Red Cloud in Area 1. Responsible for over 620 employees to include Military Police, Fire Department and Security Personnel protecting 10 military installations to include support to the DMZ. Recently served as a Senior Army Instructor for a JROTC program at a High School in sunny Southern CA. As of end of July 2022, I have retired to Fort Living Room, Florida. Military awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal(4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal(2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Air Force Basic Training Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5), Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Kuwait Liberation Medal (KU), Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, USAF Security Police Qualification Badge, German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge (GOLD), German Schutzenschnur (GOLD), German Parachutist Badge (Bronze), and the European Military Parachutist Badge (Bronze). Boy Scouts of America Volunteer: Recently served as Explorer Post Advisor for our JROTC Unit. Served as an Assistant Varsity Team Scout Leader in Troop 110, Gulf Stream Council. Served as Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council, Troop 3, Leavenworth KS. Former Scout Master Troop 465, Great Southwest Council, Edgewood, New Mexico. Former Cub Master/Committee Chairman for Pack 84, Trans-Atlantic Council, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Own and ride an 2019 Indian Chieftain Classic. Member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and Patriot Guard Rider Organization; Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club; Military Order of Foreign Wars of the United States; National Society Sons of the American Revolution-Brevard County, FL Chapter; Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati; Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge; Mayflower Society; Alumni Member Scabbard and Blade National Military Honor Society, U.S. Army Ranger Association (Life Member), Military Officer Association of America (MOAA) Melbourne, FL Chapter. Happily married to the former Sabrina Drenk of Temple City, CA. I met Sabrina in Dec 1983 as we both served missions for our church. We were engaged in 1986, but she had a hard time leaving sunny southern CA and traveling the world with me in the Military. Once I found out that she was divorced when I was, we immediately got back together and are so happy to be back together. . Between the both of us have 10 children together: Hans-Fritz II, 33 years, Madyson, 30 years (granddaughter- Jette Monroe Hunt, Grandson-Jameson), Montana, 28 years(Grandson-Willow), Connor, 27 years (Grandson-Charles), Boston, 26 years(Grandson-Harlow), Jacklyn, 24 years, Ledger, 23 years(Grand daughter- Charlotte) and Keely-Ross, 19 years, Chase Mattsson, 30 (Granddaughter-Kate and Elle, Grandson: Dean); Tanner Mattsson 25. Enjoying retirement and serving as an Officer and on the JROTC Committee in the Military Officer Association of America (Space Coast Chapter). Also serving as the Secretary for the Brevard Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) as well as the State JROTC Chairman and a member of the National JROTC Committee for the Sons of the American Revolution.
