Harmon's Story
After my divorce in 1970 I had the esteem pleasure of being drafted into the United States Army in October of that year. I wound up extending my commitment and spent the next six years jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, scuba diving, climbing mountains and slogging through jungles as a member of Special Forces. And, I have all the requisite injuries that come with it.
In October of 1973 while passing through Mobile, I met my wife Sue on a blind date. I'm not sure I've ever properly thanked my sister for that. After all the terror I inflicted on her growing up you'd think she would be out for revenge instead. Anyway, Sue and I were married a year later in November at Heritage Chapel on Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
After leaving the Army I attended University of South Alabama and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. This was when the computers filled an entire room. Now they change so fast I can't keep up with it. The last class I took at the university was taught by our own Richard Hitt. Small bit of irony there. I don't think I ever begged for a "D" before that.
Moved to Atlanta in 1987 and have been here since. I'm the IT Manager for a very small company. Hooked up with Howard ...Expand for more
Pepper about a year and a half ago (October-November 2006) after over 40 years. He and I grew up in the same neighborhood, wandered down the same railroad tracks, explored the same swamps and swam in the same polluted river. Which probably explains that hump on my back, or is it the hump on Howard's back, I'll have to check the photos and get back to you.
Howard and I were just miles apart several times during those 40 plus years and didn't know it. He lived in Athens, Georgia for a while and we even figured out we were on the island of Okinawa at the same time.
Howard retired from the Navy and we all owe him our thanks for his service. I met his buddy Adam, I'll let Howard tell you about him.
Currently I'm serving as Vice President of the Georgia Chapter of Special Forces Association (Chapter 59). It works out pretty good since I've always wanted to be in charge of vice.
No grandkids yet, but except for the gray hair, wrinkles, bad back, hearing aids, etc. I'm a pretty young guy.
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
P. S. After several request I added some pictures to show the entire family. As you can see I'm pretty proud of them. Well, except for that wierd cousin from El Segundo.
