Harold's Story

I attended UC Davis where I met my wife, Anne Foster, who civilized me, We married in 1972 and have two children and four grandchildren. We have lived on Maui since 1988, and are both retired. I now work part time at my son’s native plant nursery and enjoy tennis, golf, standup paddling and old man long-board surfing and playing piano. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from UC Davis, and after completing a PhD in Soil Science in 1978 I worked 10 years for the USDA’s...Expand for more
Agricultural Research Service in Maryland, and then 24 years for the University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture as a researcher and the administrator for Cooperative Extension in Maui County. My work included agricultural development assistance programs in developing countries which took me to some unique places. I still do some public education through writing on agricultural biotechnology. If you make it to Maui, send me a message if you would like to get together.
