Life
After Lincoln, I earned my BA in journalism at the University of Washington, then was promptly drafted and went to Vietnam for a year. After that, I spent another year in Oklahoma running out the time clock on my Army engagement. I then went to UCLA grad school for a year and was hired at the Los Angeles Times out of an internship. I spent more than 18 years at the Times and then went to Hollywood as a PR and marketing exec, working for seven years with the late mogul Brandon Tartikoff. years living in beautiful Santa Barbara, I moved to Dallas when the company headquarters was transferred. In January 2008, I retired from corporate life after almost 36 years. In June 2009, my partner of 34 years and I moved to Whidbey Island and the little 3-acre farm we bought. So far we've spent most our time whacking weeds and cutting hay. But we love this place, looking out at beautiful Penn Cove. I am readjusting, however, to Washington's rainy weather. That may take awhile. But now that I'm back in the vicinity, I do expect to attend the Lincoln Class of '63 fiftieth reunion!
