Harriet's Story
After graduating from Longwood University, I started teaching in Prince Wm County at the "old" Gar Field High School in 1963 until 1966.. I left the teaching field to work as a Special Assistant to the City Manager of Fredericksburg and then moved to the Governor's office where I worked in the Department of Community Development and Planning. I returned to teaching and taught one year at Anne Moncure Elementary and the rest of my teaching years at Stafford Senior High School from 1969 until 1987. I was known as Miss Brooks at Gar Field and Mrs. Eastridge at Stafford Senior High School but have remarried (Mrs. Harriet B. Rowe) and moved to California. I miss seeing my students as they mature, find employment, marry and have families of their own. I so enjoyed seeing them as I met them in the Mall or other stores and restaurants in the Fredericksburg, VA area. For those of you who were my students and see this profile, know that you're never far from my thoughts.

r, I will be returning to my family and Virginia home in Fredericksburg sometime during 2015.
I have enjoyed hearing from those students who have found me one way or another online.
Colonial Beach Elementary:
I decided to enter this school registry to remind people that CB Elementary existed long before the "new" building was built. My mother graduated from CB around 1935 when it was also the high school. By the time my generation came along, you went grades 1 - 7 in CB and then transferred to Oak Grove High School for grades 8 -12. My class was the last class to graduate from Oak Grove High School as it closed in 1959. As I recall, CB students were then "bussed" to Montross until CB built it own school system.
If you see me, stop and say, "Howdy"! (That is if you don't have trouble recognizing me as I do you. Hmmmm.... must be the grey hair and added pounds. I suppose I should put a picture in my profile. Oh well, I'll do it when I finish moving to Fredericksburg and get rid of the grey hair.
