Harry's Story
Graduated Taft HS June 1966. I was in the Taft Variety Show with my singing group the Four Winds. I believe the show was in May or June of 1965 or 1966. We did a skit while singing Catch Us If You Can by the Dave Clark Five. If anyone remembers the show or has pictures please let me know.
Worked for an electronics company Sept/ 1966 to March 1968.. I was drafted into the US Army in March 1971
I went to Viet Nam in Oct/1968 and came back Oct/1969. Got out of Army March 1971. Worked at the same Electronics Company again Sept/1971 to Sept/1976. Worked at the US Postal Service 1973-1976. Will be married going on 45 years to Liz, a girl I knew from the Bronx neighborhood. Transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration in Sept 1976 as an Air Traffic Controller. by Ronald Reagan. Went to Met Life as a sales rep Oct 1981 to April 1986. Went to Allstate Insurance Company as an Agent April of 1986 to July of 2006. Sold Allstate business in July 2006. Went to Internal Revenue Service January 2008 to
February of 2012. Now retired. We have two grown sons. My wife is still working. It's been an interesting journey.
I would be interested to know how some of my classmates made out in there life. I have the original Taft yearbook. My memories of the time at Taft is very sketchy. I was in the Orchestra but not exactly a dedicated student. I spent a lot of time in the pool hall on 170th street. I'm certainly not proud of that but what can I say.
It would be great if anyone has some clear memories of the time at school to share.
It's mind boggling to know it's been 50 years this year.
