Harry's Story
After graduating from Ft. Lauderdale High School he earned a degree in electrical engineering from the Unversity of Florida. Harry took ROTC and was in the Army for 4 years rising to the rank of Captain. While in the Army he lived in Germany for three years working in international logistics. He next became a civilian Project Engineer at the US Army R&D Center at Ft. Belvoir. While there he was responsible for development of a microwave automatic identification system. ities primarily located at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Harry is now retired and lives in Basye, Virginia.
Harry married his childhood sweetheart, Lynne Barnes, a Stranahan graduate, and they had two children, Christopher and Jennifer. Both children earned engineering degrees from Virginia Tech. He has been blessed with three grandchildren. Lynne passed away in 2005. Two years ago Harry remarried Linda Quimby.
Harry's retirement interests include doing volunteer work for the Woodstock Virginia Chamber of Commerce and gourmet cooking.
