Harry's Story
After reading the bios, I am mightily impressed with our class of "64". Many achievements, positive actions, lives well led. The bios of people that are not only classmates, but friends I spent my youth with are a joy to read:
Mike Boyce, (a good discus thrower at North) as an Planetary Scientist has helped us understand a bit more the heavens above and is now retired in Hawaii.
Skip McFarland retired a very successful business man. In his retirement, he has built a 'Disney Land' for his automobile passion.
Brain Hulen had the taste to acquire a vineyard in California.
Sal Huitron maintains constant communication with us in the present day, and yet maintains a presence in the past with his antique business. He has raised two fine sons that have chosen the military service, one has reached the rank of Captain
.
A Brief History Of Me and Mine:
After graduating North High, I obtained a college Vietnam draft deferment. I graduated P.C. and then attended ASU. At the end of my senior year, I was drafted.
The military was perhaps the most influential aspect in my adult life. Everything I learned in service training and combat I used in my future career life. Discipline, attention to detail, crisis management, crisis intervention, problem solving...these traits were all honed by my service. I left the service as I entered, a proud and patriotic American, except I now had the honor of having been a rifle platoon leader. Incidentally, I have a coffee cup printed with the statement, 'Vietnam, we were winning when I left'....which is how I choose to remember my time overseas.
Family:
My first marriage was in 1968. Linda and I had one dau...Expand for more
ghter, then later divorced.
I married my second wife, Neysa, in 1981. We met during our work in the micro electronics industry. I was in production management, Neysa was in engineering. Both divisions are known for two totally different sets of opinionated ideas on the way to properly manufacture semiconductors. We should have never got along, much less still be married 35 years later. We raised our daughters, Kathrine and Melora, are blessed with two grandchildren and one great grandson. Along the way we adopted a set of twin boys that are now 24 year old exceptional young men.
Profession:
My entire professional life was involved with micro-electronics. Along with appealing to what some may consider a character flaw of enjoying management, it allowed me to travel the world. I retired in 2009.
Extracurricular Activities:
I have maintained a 40 year love affair with dirt bikes (motocross). Riding in the open desert gradually became less and less available to the public, which prompted me to buy some personal acreage in southeast Pinal County. When we feel the urge, the twins, friends and I will spend on that property riding the small track we designed years ago.
Future Days:
Neysa and I spend time traveling between Arizona and Florida visiting both ends of the spectrum of our family...the young and the elderly. We have a very small 'A' frame cabin in the Apache/Sitgreaves National Forest that we plan to remodel and spend the more temperate months of the year. Our days require no scheduling and Monday is always a day off.
Our parents have been called 'America's Best Generation'. I believe we Mustangs represent the Best of Our Generation
