Harry's Story

It was a dark and stormy night..., oops wrong story. After graduating from Armijo High School, I attended Solano Community College for 2 years, worked as Electronic Mechanics Apprentice at Mare Island Nuke Shipyard, then -- within 2 months -- received a "Greetings" letter from President Lyndon Johnson: Surprise, you've been drafted into the U.S. Army. Worked in SSD, ACSI (Special Security Detachment with Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence) at the Pentagon in DC and 1 year at MACV HQ in Saigon, Vietnam. After the Army, worked for 2 yrs at Mare Island Shipyard, then left to enter UC Berkeley. After leaving a Masters Prog in Bacti-Immunology, got into computers and software. Cranked up my own Software Consulting Corp in CA, Idaho, and Washington. Managed Pacific Northwest Branch for NY software company. Developed all kinds of IT apps for companies like Microsoft, B of A, Verizon, etc. Proj Mgr and Branch Mgr. Married somewhere in between the lines of the last paragraph, how time flies; two children, son and daughter who just graduated from Univ Washington, son in field of neural biology, daughter in bio-chem after switching from viola. Go figure. What, she plays heavy metal on the viola for her nano-technology MS patients? Remarried 7 years ago to a wonderful woman, the little old lady from Pasadena who drives a hot Mopar HEMI 5.7L Street Racing Technology Chrysler 300 with tuned twice pipes. You figure it out. I just hold on for dear life. Hey, 20-inch low profile rims with Nitrogen gas in the tires like at NASCAR, what do I know? Moved to Boise, Idaho -- spud capital of the world -- in 1992 from California and have been living here ever since. Retired with hotrod wifester, not really a hotrodder, she was a heavy duty IT project manager for Boise Cascade, McDonald-Douglas, and other biggies before retiring. We travel a lot. Timeshares in Los Cabos, spent a month at 2006 World Cup of Soccer in Munich, also coast of Spain, Paris, got lost in the Souk in Morocco, and occasionally travel to the Peppermill Resort Casino in Reno to whip them at Blackjack, Roulette, and the quarter slots. Yeah, we're big time ...Expand for more
gamblers. Uh huh. Had the audacity to run for state senator in my Boise District 18 in 2002 on the GOP ticket although I am a Libertarian and don't trust any of today's political parties. I am a fan of Glenn Beck and not a fan of Obamanomics. Am heavy into Ayn Rand Objectivist philosophy and Libertarianism and Austrian School of Free Market Econ. Don't try to argue with me about Econ, you will lose and then cry. Boo hoo. Did not win the Primary for state senator but continue to participate in politics to a limited degree. Am currently a precinct committee person of interest in my District and am helping the Libertarians take over Idaho's ridiculous Republican Party. The Democratic Party doesn't exist in Idaho, either. It's extinct like the dinosaur. Published a couple of books: Bread and Circuses, The Politician's Primer, may still be on Amazon, and Boise's Watergate: University Place & All The Governor's Men, an expose of former Gov Dirk Kempthorne and how he participated in the quarter billion dollar dirty politics of a failed University Place (U. of I) fiasco from 1998 thru 2005. A fun read with lots of jokes. Currently edit and manage a Web Site called FreeMarketDuck which is an opinion and commentary journal about local Idaho and National politics. I particularly like to skewer the Federal Reserve and National Politicians. Am very interested in alternative energy resources that you may have never heard of (free energy from the vacuum, Tesla radiant energy, etc.), Billy Meier and his ET visitors, work out three days a week on my Bow Flex with wifester on alternate days, gulp down mega vitamins, and, just for fun, whip out a few tunes on my Gibson ES-355TD vintage guitar that you see in my current pic. What do I play? Heavy Metal mixed with Flamenco, old time rock n roll, blues, country, and anything from Beatles to Stones to Dire Straits to van Halen (double hand tapping, etc. ha ha) AC/DC to Led Zeppelin to whatever wah-wahs and reverbs and fuzz tones and distortion/gain where applicable. Does that tell the story? I guess so. Hey, I been busy. So, what's up with you, Boo-Boo? Harry Lear - Class of '63
