Harry's Story
Harry Spencer has been a health and fitness professional for more than 33 years. Within those 33 years, he has developed an extensive background in corporate wellness, health club management, health club architectural design, construction, personal training, and equipment layout for more than 25 different fitness facilities throughout the United States. He is the currently the President of Virtual Personal Trainers.com, a global internet-based personal training program, and the Assistant General Manager of Gold¿s Gym Briargate in Colorado Springs. Prior to joining forces with Gold¿s Gym, he was the Vice-President of Voodoo Promotions/Glamour, Inc. as well as a Regional Rehab Development Associate for Infinity Rehab and Avamere Senior Health Services.
In May of 1988, he took over the management of 2 Nautilus Plus of Oregon fitness centers. In a 10 year time frame, he grew and converted the Nautilus Plus Corporation into the largest chain of Gold¿s Gyms in the world with 13 locations and a single Nautilus Plus for Women. The chain was eventually purchased by Bally Total Fitness in 2000, where he functioned as a Senior Area Supervisor. After leaving Bally Total Fitness, he took over as the Vice-President of Operations for 3 Gold¿s Gym locations in Southern Oregon.

er, he has been a competitive motorcycle and Jet Ski racer/Promoter, as well as a Down-Hill Mountain Bike racer. Unfortunately his down-hill racing days came to an end when he suffered a broken back preparing for a race in Whistler, BC in the summer of 2006. He still takes every opportunity he gets to ride anything fast and furious, and continues to support the sport of competitive body-building as a coach and a Regional Judge for the National Physique Committee.
In 1999, Harry was invited to be a guest speaker at the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine Convention in Las Vegas where he spoke on ¿The role of exercise and nutrition in rehabilitation of the spine due to injury or disease¿.
As a trainer, he has helped people of all ages, shapes and sizes. His clients include beginners to competitive amateur and professional athletes, as well as from teenagers to grandparents. In 1996, Harry was invited to be one of a group of fitness trainers assisting the commercial gym equipment manufacturer Nautilus and NBC Sports during the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
Harry has been an exercise equipment design consultant to major manufacturers such as Nautilus and Wynmor Fitness Systems, now a division of York Barbell Company. He has also been a consultant to the Strength Training Department at Portland State University.
