Heather's Story

Life Let's start with after High School. A month after I graduated from high school we had a fire in our family home. It was arson. Our family went through a lot that next year trying to re-build our lives. We are truly thankful that none of us were home when it happened. Things can be replaced...people can't. After that major event in my life...I went to college close to home, Clayton State, so I could be close to home and help out during the re-build. I left for a semester and went back to college and graduated shortly after my son, Joseph was born. God truly has blessed me with this child. I went back to school to other colleges to further my broadcasting career. I can't believe that I have been in the media/entertainment field in some form or fashion for 20 years now. Everything from an evening soap opera, to calling races on cable TV, to getting up at 3 a.m. to trek in and host an FM morning radio show. I was the Production Director for 3 stations while at ClearChannel Radio(I don't ever advise trying that one.) -while hosting a show for Magic 98-1. It was an honor to host a special for NBC in the Winter of 2006 on the "Explorations In Antiquity Center",(A life-size replica of Jerusalem and Bethlehem located in LaGrange, GA), and much to my surprise I was nominated for an EMMY under the category of "Host of a documentary". I never expected to be nominated by the commitee. So that in itself was quite amazing. I actually thought my producer was playing a practical joke on me when she called to tell me the good news...total disbelief...til I got to "the party". My executive producer (and very good friend) on that project and I are still working on more projects. I was on-air with J93.3 for a while and due to gas prices and a rather lengthy commute I decided it was time to work from home. Unlike many people in the radio profession, I actually use my real first and middle name on air...not my choice. When I worked on a morning show about 6 years ago, the GM said, "Hmmmm what are we going to call you?? How about let's use your real name." Well, it stuck. It's also a joy to work with performing artists as I have a side business as a Professional voice coach. Singing and writing songs is such a stress reliever for me..it's my passion and allows me to pour out my emotions through my music. My coaching career allows me to work with some pretty amazing recording artists. I'm so not worthy. God is so amazing. If anyone asks me...they'll find out quickly that my true passion is being a wife and mother. Spending each day with my best friend (hubby Frank) and my kids is awesome. Joseph is growing up way too fast though (That Coun...Expand for more
try Song "Don't Blink" is so accurate!). He's majorly into video games...what 17 year old isn't...I have no idea what I'm doing, so I mostly watch. Whatever happened to Tetris, Pong or Pacman??? I miss my Atari! I'm not ready for that. He just started his senior year. If you missed the reunion...well..you don't know this yet...I have the privilege of being with the love of my life, Frankie Kitchens. We are so happy that we have found each other...even if it did take us 20 years to do it. Frank was such the gentleman...asked my dad for my hand and everything. Then he proposed to me at Heidi's house on Thanksgiving night. We got married January 26th, 2008. YAY! I wrote a song for Frank and played it as I was coming down the aisle...he had no idea. Seeing the expression on his face when he realized what I had done was truly a magical moment. One I'll never forget. Frankie is a Paramedic/Firefighter II and has been fighting fires for 20 years now. I'm so proud of him! That's a really tough job. At times it can be tough for us to be without him 24 and 48 hours at a time. It makes the time he is home so much more precious to us both. One of the many things that I appreciate about our relationship is that even though my career can be pretty demanding on me, and at times on my family, Frankie understands and is extremely supportive, encouraging me and standing by my side telling me to go for it. It really means a lot to know he believes in me. Summer of 2009 has been incredible! We have a wonderful new baby. He is a bundle of happiness and Frankie is such a loving father. Our son looks like both of us. My coloring and Frankie's features. We are so happy! Our Baby is now 2...hard to believe time has flown by so fast! We now have another bundle of happiness born March 2011! We are a happy family of 5 now! God is so good! My little sister, Beth, married Ridge Fussell and they have 4 boys (bless her heart). My older sister, Heidi, married a wonderful man from Forest Park. Bill and Heidi have a daughter. Both of my parents are cancer survivors. My father has trouble from time to time and is quite the survivor. He's our walking miracle. Ok, so I've told you way to much about me...now it's time to hear about you. I fell out of touch with many wonderful people. Some of you I never had a chance to get to know. I'd love to hear from you. E-mail me sometime. Many Blessings to you and your families~ :-) Heather Lynn Kitchens By the way...both Frankie and I have lost our logins to our classmates accounts...til I found mine. He still has no clue what his is...so if we do not answer anything in our inbox please forgive us...it is not personal.
