Heather's Story

I hope I'm remembered by friends and classmates as someone who was genuine and sincere to everyone regardless of the group they fit into. That was always very important to me. I was a good kid in school so I don't remember doing anything too wild. When I transfered to Amherst though I would walk up to Hot Dog Heaven to get ice cream or milkshakes for some teachers and myself. I also had to play in a softball game without a bra because I wore a strapless to school and I forgot to bring a sports bra with me. The strapless kept falling down to my waist when I ran during warm ups so I just took it off and played without it. So did Janelle Aschenbach in the same game! (sorry about the spelling) I always wanted to be a gym teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were almost correct because I teach 8th grade language arts, and I used to coach volleyball, basketball, and softball at the junior high and high school levels. There are two big surprises in my life. One, I never thought I'd be a mom let alone have three children. Two, I never thought I'd go back to school and earn a Masters Degree. I have only lived in three places my entire life: Lorain, Amherst, and Berea. I moved to Amherst to be able to participate in sports when Lorain's levy failed in 1991. I then moved to Berea to attend Baldwin-Wallace College. I moved back to Lorain when I graduated from BW, and rented an apartment. I finally ended up in Berea again because my husband already owned a house on campus and we love it! Unfortunately, I keep my anger built up inside. When I do release it I play music loudly, go for a walk or drive fast. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have fun, friends, ...Expand for more
and coffee to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero would have to be my parents Ed and Cathy. They are the best parents anyone could ask for. Growing up I was always provided with what I needed but not spoiled. I knew I was loved and cared for by my family. I was taught to always try my best at everything. My parents did not attend college, but always stressed the importance of education and getting good grades. Their support has made me the educator that I am today. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Albert Smith, because he was one of my very best friends in elementary school, along with Alexis Maguire and Damon McCall, and I've often wondered what happened to him once he moved away.. My first crush became my best friend. We spent the best summer of my life together before he left for the Air Force and I for college. He got married, and eventually left the Air Force. He brought her back here to Ohio and unfortunately their marriage ended. I haven't seen or heard from him in quite some time. I hope he's doing well. My current age is 34. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be married with children. I was so completely right for the most part. My one do-over would be that I would live with my parents for at least a year before I moved out into an apartment on my own so I could have a good chunk of cash. Although I enjoy my job I don't know if I can teach junior high language arts for 30 years. I aspire to eventually go back to school again and earn a Masters Degree so I can be a junior high or high school guidance counselor. My best friend would tell you I'm caring and sensitive, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as loud and cocky.
