Hector's Story
After graduation I joined the Navy and went to the Navy's Radar School. I came home in 1962, went to Barber School, and cut hair for 10 yrs. I then hired on with ASARCO Mining Company, just south of Tucson.... I drove 65 ton, 85 ton, and 170 ton haul trucks, along with 10,000 gallon water trucks. I also operated D7 and D8 bulldozers. zona Dept. of Corrections and worked myself up through the ranks,attaining the rank of Captain in 1994. I worked all inmate custody levels, from Release Centers, Minimum, Medium, Heavy Medium, and Maximum Custody, including Death Row. I witnessed 5-6 inmate executions, both by Lethal Injection and Gas. I retired in 1999
I married Stella Encinas ( Douglas High School Class of 1966) in 1967. We have four children and six grand children.
