Facebook has proved to be a great place to keep in touch with friends and family far and near! Let me tell you a "little" bit about me! I am a 1st Generation American, born in Mauston, Wisconsin in 1954 to my wonderful German born parents, Hans Georg Wolfgang & Anneliese Ersepke. My brother Hans J. and sister Alice were also born in Germany. We lived in Necedah, WI until 1956, when my mother, brother, sister and I, sailed by steamship from New York to Bremerhaven, Germany where we went on to Bremen to live for 6 months with relatives. During that time my father moved our family belongings from Wisconsin to Toledo, OH., where he had new employment. Growing up in Toledo I attended Cherry Elementary from 1959-1968, it was here in my third grade class that my artistic skills came to light and I was chosen to attend Saturday morning classes at the Toledo Museum of Art free for one year. My parents saw that I continued classes there for another 4 years. We lived on Cadillac Court off of Parkwood, and my father drove me to the museum which was at the very south end of Parkwood. Many happy hours were spent at the museum. Attended J.W. Scott High from 1969-1972, with art honors & member of the National Honor Society...Expand for more
. I took two years of Russian and could read & write it fluently then, now it all looks Greek to me! My first job was a graphic artist position that I received a week after high school graduation & worked there for 6 years. Married Larry E. Drewes (who was the "boy next door" to me in Toledo) in 1976. Started a family in 1980 with the birth of Larry Jr. Worked for Michaelis Corvette Supply in Maumee OH for 3 years as a graphic artist. Moved closer to Desher in '83, brought Anna Lisa into the world that September. Opened Oak Tree Gallery (antiques & fine handcrafts) in Deshler with friend Judy Crouch in June of '85. Brought Amanda Marie into the world in June of '86. Sold my half of Oak Tree to Judy and worked out of my home. Divorced and bought a little house in Deshler in '96. I have been a self employed artist, decorative painter & muralist most of my career, which can be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. Each job is different, I never do the same thing twice and I love the challenge each project brings. A few of my clients include The Campbell Soup Supply Co., Napoleon, OH (one of the world's largest food processing plants), where I've painted murals within the plant and have designed their corporate Christmas card for the past 4 years; The Anderson's of Maumee (painted 120' streetscape mural in Lima store); Northtowne Mall, Defiance, OH (foodcourt murals) and other NW Ohio businesses. I have been transforming homes & businesses with my talent for over 30 years. I especially enjoy doing faux finishes, like painting a surface to look like marble or stone. Also producing Trompe le'oeil (fool the eye) murals that are very realistic, so much so I have had people try to pull a door to open it and then realize it's just a flat painted wall! I love to design and build things too, I have light carpentry skills and own more power tools than small kitchen appliances. I can hang, tape & mud drywall and like to do plaster finishes on walls. LOVE turning trash to treasure, like in old, unwanted furniture which I rescue, recycle and re-purpose using my creativity and paint. I admire, adore and know by sight all makes and models of vintage, classic & modern cars. Collecting antiques, Steiff animals, beautifully illustrated books, yellowware & other pottery, vintage toys & advertising and countless other loved (with age) things, has been my passion since I was 10. I am definitely a "Keeper of the Past"! I have a Step-Grandson Gregory Drewes who is now 20, and lives in Ft. Wayne, IN, and another Step-Grandson Lain Mitchell who is 10 and is the son of my daughter in law Laura.. On June 11, 2010 I became "Oma"...Grandma...to Lilly Jane Drewes, firstborn daughter to my son Larry and his wife Laura, who are now expecting twin girls in April 2012, and of course I am and will be enjoying these new additions to my life and our family!".
