Heidi's Story
Life
8/4/07 Howdy everybody!!! Hey, I'm in Chanhassen now. Just moved at the beginning of July. My landlord wanted his townhouse back so his Mom and sister, who are moving up to MN from CA, could live there until they found a place to buy of their own. So now I'm in a nicer place in Chanhassen for less money. The rent is income based though, so my rent will go up as my income does. But where i am will be worth even the top rent. It's a modest, but nice townhouse, in a nice neighborhood, with nice stable neighbors.
Now I'm working on the job again. I've had a few short-term and temp jobs, but no keepers. See you all in 2 weeks!
My divorce was finally final last August. The boys are now 7, 5, and 5. The twins will start Kindergarten this year. Estefan is going into 2nd grade. I can't beleive how quickly they grow.
July 2006,
My long term goal is to get a Masters in Human Services, and a counseling and social worker license, with the intent of starting a non-profit organization to provide advocacy and counseling services to immigrants in the SW Twin Cities Metro area. If you are curious what that all means let me know. I would be glad to go into more detail.
I have 3 sons. They are Estefan, born 7/2/2000 and Abraham and Noah (fraternal twins) born 6/11/2002. They are 3 treasures and all unbelievably cute!
Another giant change in my life is that I am a "born again" Christian. 6 years ago I started going to church, and my faith has grown so much since then. Having Christ in my life has made all the difference. It gives me strength to keep going in the down times. But most importantly Christ gave me the courage to let go of my marriage and to work on becoming the person I was made to be. The TRUTH will set you free!!!
God Bless You All! I hope to hear from some of you soon! Heidi

Workplace
Ryt-Way -...Expand for more
Well it earned me some money. And taught me that there are people out there that really are challenged mentally, but not "retarded". I never want to squeeze a bag of microwave popcorn again! Ah-h-h-h but the fond memory of the dirty popcorn fiasco. Shut the line down for 2 days, just to be told that the dirt was within limits. Ick! At least the micrwaves would have killed any germs that might have been there. Never will forget Ryt-Way thanks to a repetitive motion injury to my right shoulder that flairs up anytime I spend more than an hour writing or doing anything repetitive with the right arm!
Green Giant - Summer Jobs 1989-1992 - What great memories. Miss hanging out with the boys on the combine crews & the samplers in Montgomery. Running through the fields in the wee hours of the morning as a sampler. Fighting with know-it-all Kurt Schutte on the combine crew. Driving the touchiest of the combines and getting stuck with it all summer, cause I was the only one with the patience to nurse it along, and clean out the header every 30 minutes. Do they do Green Giant Reunions?
U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador Aug 1992-Aug 1994 - Livestock Extension/Sheep. Peace Corps was truly the "Toughest Job You'll Ever Love. " What they didn't tell you is the tough part is not the work or the physical stuff, but the emotional stuff. I will never look at the world the same again!
Kraus Anderson Insurance - Gave me a great start in the working world. I left for better pay and new opportunities, but if I could do it all over I would go back and stay for a couple more years.
Diversified - I never want to do call center again. Aside from getting sick from allergies every time I set foot in the building, I hated not being able to really help people when they called.
Wells Fargo - I loved you WF. A great company. I miss the diversity and the bus ride downtown was fun. Worked in Bank Accounting with Carol Olausen. Left only because of the commute after my first son was born. I'd go back in a heartbeat, though I want to do something different.
Westra Construction - The dream opportunity turned sour. Shows that all people are not meant to be managers. Tony Haddad was a nice guy, and super smart, but never should have gone into management. Maybe if HQ in WI had figured that out the branch wouldn't have closed. I will always wonder if the company went out of business because of losses by the MN Branch. Ahhh, but the experience taught me that even if I am good with numbers, I am not a black and white person, and accounting will probably never be a GOOD fit for my personality.
Spherion - Staffing and Supervisory/HR. Finally a job that showed me what I am good at. Too bad the contract was so severely reduced in the negotiations. I would have liked to stay with you a few more years.
