Helen's Story
Life
I achieved a BS degree in nursing with a minor in microbiology. Graduated Summa Cum Laude. Have 3 kids, nearly grown, now. Cassidy (f) is 21 1/2, Brionna (f) is 19, and Shannon (m) is 16 1/2. I live in NC, a little place called Silver Valley. I run an animal rescue called L.A.I.R.--Large Animal and Iguana Rescue. We have horses, birds, dogs, iguanas, rabbits, and 1 cat that live here on 7.5 acres. I got married, after dating my husband for 5 years, in 1983. Been married 23.5 years. (Seems like eons when you write it down, hunh?) Hope to go back to school soon for a Masters degree in something...haven't decided what. My first grandchild arrived on April 3, 2007. I was there. Her name is Kaelyn. She is a real cutie. Family is all over the US. I have 2 Saddlebred stallions, both grandsons of My High Supreme, a beautiful black and white spotted saddlebred. One is a chestnut sorrel, and one is a black and white like his famous grandpa. We hope to finish fencing in the property to create a more spacious facility. Life is stressful, but good. My sister reminds me (when I complain) how fortunate I am.
School
Don't know what to say about school. Good times..Bad times. Didn't stay in touch with anyone. Am curious about the outcomes for the class of 76. I would like to check out the Chofu crowd, some time. That is where I had my first big crush, and probably hardest. He w...Expand for more
as polite to me, but that was it. I remember names and faces--then faces. I remember a buddy or 2, and I remember my nemesis. No really serious "love interests", though I did date Mike LaRocco, John Trotter, and Carl Utley. Went to the prom with Marty Quire. Hope they all did well in life. Mostly remember the sports teams I participated in, and the people I was involved with in those. The teachers--well, some were great, and others bordered on incompetent. I know that this is my opinion, and would never defame or slander someone from that long ago. We all had different "eyes" for viewing the world, back then--young eyes, maybe without the maturity to see everything. Just happened to think.... You guys may remember that my mom was the attendance officer at the school. Mrs. Edinger. She left there and became the manager of the government commissaries. She reported only to the Joint Chiefs. She retired, in good health in Sept. of 2006, and resides in Illinois. She probably nabbed at least a few of you for cutting class--she did me, a few times. I think that the modular system was a great way to schedule classes, and I feel like we received a better education than our children have. We traveled the world, speak different languages, mingled with different nationalities and cultures, and were trusted to attend school on a college-like schedule. It was an experience..........
