Helen's Story
Hi Everyone!
When one gets to our age and still has good health, adequate resources, true friends, and a wonderful family one has to feel blessed as I do! I was one of Mrs. Betty Perdue's Glee Club girls and I was also painfully shy as so many of us were then. Fortunately, age and life seem to have cured my shyness so I guess that is one of the perks about getting older. To quote one of the moldy oldies from our era - I've Got A New Attitiude!
I graduated from Auburn in 1973 (WAR EAGLE) and I was a teacher right here in Montgomery for the next 35 years. Along the way I raised two fantastic daughters,had two not so fantasic marriages and was my mother's full time care giver until her death in 2009. Now, I am happily enjoying my single independence and I have found a second little career as an office manager for a non-profit fraternal organization. The absolute light of my life are my 4 precious grandchildren!

and downs and life responsibilities that we probably all have had,I currently feel very blessed to be turning the page and discovering all the freedom,fun, laughter and joyous surprises this next life chapter is bringing.The fun is deciding, on a whim, to jump in my car and head south to the Fairhope Independent Film Festival. The laughter is watching the Beatles/ Ed Sullivan 50th Anniversary Special with my group of (friends since high school) They know who they are. We even burst into a spontaneous dance to "Hey Jude" in memory of our Senior Day when we all ran on the stage , thus, according to my younger brother, ruining that activity for all classes that followed us.. A joyful surprise was taking my grandaughter shopping and trying on every gaudy oversized Easter hat in the store with her and taking cell phone selfies to commemerate the occasion of our silliness.
So many of us have reconnected on FaceBook that life is grand and GO POETS!
