Henry's Story
Henry -- known to friends as "Hank" -- is from Manhasset and Aquebogue, New York. He is married. His schools include Hempstead High School. He later attended SUNY. He works(ed) at Governance & Accountability Institute (current), past: American Airlines - Corporate Citizenship Officer, Long Island Rail Road/MTA, New York Stock Exchange (officer and head of communications), Rowan & Blewitt - management consulting to the Fortune 100, a unit of Interpublic Group.
About Hempstead High School - it was a wonderful place in the 1950's for learning (formally) and getting ready for adulthood. I wish that I knew then what I know now -- and could have applied the life's lessons! But HHS was a happy journey nevertheless. I treasure the friendships that I made over the four years.
My interests include Great Writing, Biography, Politics. Music, Travel. I like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Jimmy Buffett, Tony Bennett, The Three Tenors music. Books -likes include the works of Ernest Hemingway, James Michener, Malcolm Gladwell, business guru Peter Drucke, and Sir Winston Churchill. Movies likes include Moonstruck, Lawrence of Arabia, Wedding Crashers, Sleepless in Seattle, The Post,. TV shows likes include PBS Nova, PBS American Masters, PBS American Experience, 60 Minutes. PBS Finding Your Roots with the great Henry Louis Gates (Harvard U).
One of Henry's favorite quotes is this (...Expand for more
he wrote) during the 2008 financial crisis: "Given the present situation in the USA ...the villagers are angry...enraged...and at the castle gates, demanding accountability of corporate leaders and civic institutions. Their torches are lit -- I will light my candle from their torches to illuminate way forward in my writing and teaching...". (Paraphrasing the 17th Century English philosopher John Burton.). Things seem to have downhill from there, haven't they!
More about Henry: For many years I have been a strategic communicator, crisis & issue management expert and executive coach. My current work is focused on encouraging responsibility and greater accountability on the part of our leaders and institutions. Helping them...do the right thing...for the right reasons. You can see more at my web sites - hank Boerner and ga-institute where you will find current commentary samples (Hank Boerner's Stay Tuned and Sustainability Update blogs, also on Twitter. More details on the Hank Boerner Linked In profile.)
With great humility I am proud to say that I have been selected as a Life Achievement Awardee by Trust Across America as one of the most trusted people in the business sector. I worked hard to do that across many years!
I look forward to connecting with and following the adventures of my former classmates on this great platform. Hasta La Vista, Amigos/Amigas!
