Tony's Story

Where to Start! I have been married 22 years, I have 2 boys Davin 4& David 7. Well, while in school I was reserved and quite. I enjoyed my years at the Big Mac and just wish I would have been more involved in the school activities. Too late now. Well after graduating, I attended college part time (which, I never finished) and began working working full time at QC Data in 1982 (Exploration & Production service company). I started out as a computer operator and worked my way up to become the IT manager for the Houston branch. During my ten years at QC Data I ended up getting married to Maria Coronado (1986). In 1992, I decided, I was going to start my first IT service company with a partner which we named Morteq Computer Technolgy. It was a tough start (Man, I wished I had finished college)we had very little capitol and one client (Williams Communications) they kept us busy, mean time, we built our business by word of mouth. (Word of advice don't advertise in the yellow pages, It seemed to attract the people that wanted the service but did not want to pay afterwords.) In 1995 I, surrendered my ownership in Morteq and started another Computer service and consulting company which we named TeamLink which we ended up selling in 1997 to a public company named Clearworks. A technology company which provided Fiber to the Home technolgy (delivering voice, data, internet and TV over Fiber)it was exciting getting to play with cutting edge technology. I worked there as the ...Expand for more
Director of operations overseeing the deployment of our fiber, equipment and services. Needless to say we became a thorn in timewarner, Comcast and Southwestern bells side. Today it is called a "Triple play" by Comcast. That ride ended in 2001 due to the DOT COM bust in the technology sector. (Thanks Enron) I ended Up leaving in October 2001 same year we had our first Son David. I took six months off to figure out what my next move would be and realizing I had a family depending on me. Well, I started another company Dynamic LAN Solutions (D.L.S) this time with a more diverse service offering. Networking, Voice, Data, Fire, Security systems and Access control. After several years in operation we were approached by an old friend in 2004 who had taken his technology company public and wanted to buy our company because it fit his business model. What the Hell I did it, we had fun that year, our second boy Davin was born. I served my 2 years of service and moved on. Today, My wife and I have a Network Service company offering the same services as before which we named after our two boys - D & D Design. We have decided to keep it family run and not sell it. "Although I cannot turn back time and have to live with the choices I made in life, I cannot complain." - I have learned some very valuble lessons throughout my journey and my goal now is to inspire our two boys to be the best at what they do. My best days are spent with my wife and two boys. Cheers! Tony D.
