Henry's Story
Raised on Sherbourne Street, I was the only student ever at Lord Dufferin to go to the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Center in Ottawa, ON. I had many friends who I enjoyed collecting pop bottles with, then going to Jim's Variety on Dundas Street to buy a bag of mixed candies. I remember the owner of Asian decent having some of his fingers missing. Lunch time we would head up the corner of Gerrard Street & Parliament Street where the Best Fish & Chips were served. I can still remember the wrapping of newspaper they used. We use to rip open the top and add the ketchup. Then came High School. I applied with the help of the Guidance office to Central Tech on Bathurst Street ...Expand for more
& Harbour, because I was interested in the airplanes they worked on in shop class. To my dismay, there was no room. I then went to Danforth Tech at Danforth Avenue & Greenwood where I learned sign language, which was located on a floor by it own. I became the only student to win the DTS 500 Winter Carnival Bike Challenge 2 years in a row. Left high school and got married in 1992 to my wife Maria. Been married 24 years now and have the best of friends, my kids. Brandon my son is 23 and my daughter Melissa is 21. My mother still lives in the old "Regent Park" area and I visit often. Times sure have changed over the years, but its nice to see there is an improvement.
