Henry's Story
Life
Fall 2007 now; man, is it beautiful in Ithaca right now. the leaves have turned and are on the downswing, but every beech tree in the woods is glowing the most outstanding chromium yellow right now. Landlocked salmonhave started to run up Fall Creek, and I spent the weekend fishing in the spray of Ithaca Falls. Spent a great summer exploring the Catskills, rafting down the Esopus river, goofing off in Phoenicia, a small pilgrimmage to Woodstock for bumper stickers, climbing the Devil's Tombstone and Hunter Mountain. I fished four of the Big Six in the circle: The Beaverkill, Willowemoc, West Branch of the Delaware, and the wild rainbows of the Esopus River. If you fly fish, you know what I mean.
Shawn and I went to the SPCA and adopted a pair of kittens; so far I have taught them to...Expand for more
retrieve paper balls, jump in to ANY empty box, and that when I rub my hands together they are going to get a treat. Ahh, behavioral modification.
That's the news from Ithaca, where the women all are beautiful, the men are all strong, and the children are all above average.
School
Best teacher? Mr. Jim Weidman. Definately a great teacher. I remember him telling David Lunden and me to "Be quiet or he'd alphebetize us!" Taught me about Whitman. I remember to class senior year on a Friday, just before Christmas break, with Mark Balestra...you see Mark's picture in the yearbook? Thebig one where he's sticking out his tongue? Yep. Crazy, I tell you , it was crazy, boys. It's good hanging with Steve Palumbo still, and seeing Tom Sirianni and Greta Schermerhorn recently. Ahh, Camillus.
