Herbert's Story

Not a lot has changed. You can now find me on Facebook, as well. Would be great to hear from you.
Life
I am Currently living in Las Vegas. It is not as bad, nor exotic, as some people think. Don't believe the hollywood hype. Actually living here is pretty moderate. Not the cheapest, but not as expensive as everyone thinks. Just me, the wife, and the dog. Our two cats have passed away. Our son is off on his own adventure with the Navy for the time being. I am stilled married to Leigh after 22 years. Some of you know who she is. How she put up with the military life all those years, I don't know. How she put with me, all those years, is an even better question. I still a nice guy. Just not quite as reserved as some of you remember.
School
Don't miss High School so much as the friends. Never could bring myself to do the college track. Technical school I could deal with. (None of the extra courses.) Definitely wouldn't have been s...Expand for more
o shy around the girls. Best summed up by the old adage; If I knew then, What I know now.......
Workplace
Well, after working the IT field for the military all those years, I decided I had enough of the high tech world. It just got too crazy. Now, I work for a company that repairs automtive shop equipment. I am more like the shop handyman. I get dirty once in awhile helping the techs on repair jobs. Mostly, I am the Customer Service Specialist. I keep up with current customers and look for new customer/sales as well. It's a living.
Military
It was fun for awhile. When it comes to having family, Navy is definitely the roughest. It probably would have been easier as an officer, but I just didn't see myself enjoying that role. Hard to break the blue collar heritage. Military is not a career path for just anybody. I still think EVERYONE should do at least 4 years in the military. Too many, take their freedom too much for granted. I feel I earned mine.
