Life I high School I was totally absorbed in music and was convinced that I would be a musician. However, I decided to go to college and soon discovered that I enjoyed academics and I developed an interest in Law. The net result was that I used my music to help pay my way through college and Law school. I ended up practicing law for over 40 years. I was a partnet in a litigation firm and I also was elelcted, in 1975, to the City Council of the City orf New York, an office I held for nearly 27 years, i became the Chair of the FInance/Budget committee and had jurisdication of a budget in excess of 40 billion dollars. I was also one of the most powerful elected member of the City Council. In 2001 I ran for City I married Fran in 1960. We have two children.
