Herbert's Story
Life
After High School went into the Marines and spent a couple of years on active duty as a KC-130 Loadmaster. Went to Northern Illinois University while staying in the Marine Reserves. Became a cop in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1994, graduated NIU in 1996, left the KC-130 unit in 1997 and went to 2nd Bn/24th Marines as a Scout/Sniper. In 2000 met Tracy Walenda (Willowbrook '94), got engaged a couple months later, and married on Sept 15, 2001. gned to the Seaport side of the squad. Our first daughter was born in 2003, followed by a son in 2004, and another daughter in 2006. Hoping to get transferred back to Chicago some time soon but until then enjoying the job, kids, and life in Southern Florida.
