Herbert's Story
Upon graduating from high school I joined the New Orleans Police Dept. (NOPD) as a Police Cadet and received an academic scholarship to attend Loyola University. I graduated with a BA Degree in Criminolgy in 1972. In 1974, I resigned from the NOPD and joined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a Special Agent, Criminal Investigator.
As a Special Agent, I enjoyed many different assignments and travelled the United States and abroad. After being a field agent for a number of year, I became a training coordinator, responsible for training DEA, FBI and US Customs agents. harge of the Cincinnatti Office of the Detroit Field Division. After several years, I was reassigned to a staff position in HQ WASHDC. I concluded that assignment with becoming the Section Chief for Financial Operations (Money Laudering Investigations) and the State & Local Operations Section.
After departing HQ I was reassigned to the Atlanta Field Division as Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) responsible for directing and managing enforcement operations as well as personnel. While assigned to Atlanta I was promoted to Iterim SAC. Atlanta was my last post of duty. I retired in December 2005. I am currently and simply enjoying retirement....HEW...Graduate of 1967.
