Homer's Story
after graduation in `68 worked as a lifeguard at Southside Lyon`s Park - May through september... then attended SAC while working at Sears on Pleasanton road...finally finished and transferred to the U of H in `July `71...while attending UH I joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and worked at the Sears store on Main street...got married in San Antonio in July `73 to Barbara Singleton ( Churchill class of 1969 ) and a graduate of SWTSU San Marcos in 1973...returning to Houston as I completed my studies and graduated in May 1974...in August `74 I joined the Houston Police Department and after graduating in December `74 became a rookie assigned the Fifth Ward and the nearby ...Expand for more

Requested a transfer to the Helicopter Patrol Division and was accepted in Sept. 77 as an observer crewman directing the pilot to call locations as dispatched...received my Commercial Rotorcraft License in 1981 and flew as aircraft commander until July 1987 ... after flying four models of Hughes helos...the 300C, the 500C, D, and E and accumulating over 3200 flying hours I requested a transfer to a day shift assignment to spend time with my two sons...I finally retired while an analyst at Westside Crime Analysis in Sept. 2004..I now work at the Houston Federal Courthouse as a Court Security Officer and as a special deputized U.S. Marshal.
