Hope's Story

I HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL, FULL, HAPPY LIFE. I DIDN'T GET MARRIED RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. I WAITED FOR JUST THE PERSON I WAS LOOKING FOR AND GOT TO KNOW HIM IN 1971. BOB (FROM BORGER,TX) WAS STATIONED IN VIETNAM WITH MY BROTHER PERRY. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT WE GOT MARRIED IN SEPT OF 1972 AND WAS MARRIED FOR NEARLY 35 YRS, I LOST BOB in 2007 TO A HEART ATTACK. IT HAS BEEN DEVASTATING, BUT AS A FREIND TOLD ME NOT LONG AGO IT WILL GET BETTER AS TIME GOES BY, I THINK HE MIGHT BE RIGHT. YOU HAVE TO GO ON LIVING, THAT IS WHAT MY HUSBAND ALWAYS TOLD ME TO DO IF I OUTLIVED HIM. I GOT ALITTLE AHEAD OF MYSELF, AFTER WE GRADUATED I WAS IN SALES UNTIL 1970 THEN I WENT TO WORK FOR SOUTHWESTERN BELL WERE I WORKED IN VARIOUS POSITION FOR 29 YRS WHEN I HAD TO TAKE A DISABILTY RETIREMENT IN 1999. TIME HAS GONE BY PRETTY FAST SINCE THEN. IN 1975 BOB AND I BOUGHT A HOME IN WHITE SETTLEMENT, TO BE CLOSER TO MY FAMILY, WE HAD BEEN LIVING IN ARLINGTON. BOB WENT TO COLLEGE ON THE VA AND THEN TO WORK FOR GD/LOCKHEED. IN 1983 BOB'S PARENTS DECIDED TO MOVE DOWN HERE FROM BORGER SO WE BOUGHT SOME ACERAGE IN PARKER COUNTY WERE WE GARDENED AND RAISE COWS, AND NO I'M NOT A COWGIRL. BELIEVE ME I GOT US BACK TO FT, WORTH AS FAST AS I COULD 20 YRS LATER. YES WE FINALLY GOT BACK TO THE CITY IN 2004. SHOW YOU WHO WORE THE PANTS IN OUR FAMILY, ME ,HE WAS JUST STUBBORN, OH I FORGOT BOB'S WIN'S OUT IN THE END AS I WILL BE BURIED WITH HIM IN PARKER COUNTY. ANYWAY WE FOUND A BEAUTIFUL HOME ON THE WEST SIDE OF FT WORTH. IT IS NICE TO GO SHOPPING WITHOUT HAVING TO DRIVE 15 MINUTES INTO TOWN AND 40 MILES TO WORK. AFTER BOB'S DEATH ONE OF MY BROTHER-IN-LAWS DECIDED THAT MY SISTERS AND I SHOULD TAKE A SISTERS CRUISE TO ALASKA. ALL FOUR oF US JUMPED AT THAT IDEAL, AS WE HAD LIVED THERE EXACTLY 50 YRS AGO. SO IN AUGUST OF 2007 WE FLEW TO ANKCORAGE, THEN TOOK A PRINCESS BUS TO WHITTER ( WERE WE LIVE WHEN IT WAS AN ARMY SHIPPING PORT) GOT ON THE PRINCESS SHIP AND SPENT THE NEXT WEEK CRUISING PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND, GLACIER BAY THEN DOWN THE INSIDE PASSAGE OF ALASKA ENDING UP IN VAN COUVER, CANADA THEN HOME TO DFW. I WOULD RE...Expand for more
COMMEND IT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T BEEN ON THIS CRUISE. FORTUNATELY MY GREAT-NIECE, TARA, WAS LIVING WITH US WHEN BOB DIED SO I AM NOT BY MYSELF, I AM A PEOPLE PERSON. I ALSO HAVE MY TWO TERRIERS AND OH YES MATT, TARA'S BOYFRIEND IT IS GREAT TO HAVE TWO TWENTY SOMETHING YEAR OLD KIDS IN THE HOUSE. WE NEVER HAD CHILDERN, SO WE JUST LOVED OUR NIECES AND NEPHEWS PLUS THEIR CHILDERN. THAT HAS PRETTY MUCH COVERED THE HIGHLITES OF MY LIFE SINCE HIGH SCHOOL, BUT I AIN'T THROUGH WITH LIFE YET. DON'T EVER GIVE UP, LIFE IS GOOD. Well we are in June of 2010, it is hard to believe time goes so fast. I will be 64 in a few days. Our household has changed somwhat, Tara broke up with Matt after three years. I lost one of my Rat Terrier's in January of this year. I Got a Fox Terrier rescue dog in 2008 names Facey, Tara found a dog in our front yard late one night when she came home, her name is Honey, because that is the color of her hair. They are nearly a full time job but I love them. Tara has been unemplyed for a year and allot of people know what that is like. Anyway we are making it and were are happy, life is good. No, I am not dating yet, but plan to, just have to find someone that interest me. It would be nice if he was a handy man around the house, too. I enjoy going to our Class get together and have reconnected to allot of people that I had not seen since Graduation night. Though Classmates I have even made friends in other parts of the USA. To my Classmates out there who have not been to a get togther you should come to one, you might find that you really enjoy it. Well allot can happen in just a few weeks, Tara got a job, she is a Hotess at the Westside Cafe, so you might see her there. She loves the job and plans to go back to college, I hope she can take at least one subject in the Fall. Tara Grandmother, my older sister who graduated in the Class of '61, is in really bad health, there is so many things going on with her right I just wish we could make it all go away. It is hard because Louise has always been the rock in our family, now it is her time to be taken care of. ............
