Howard's Story
I married fellow classmate Susan Hensing in 1972. We have been together 54 years and recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. We have 3 children: Michael - 49, Amy - 46, Kristen - 42. We also have been blessed with 6 grandchildren. I graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1974 with a B.S. in Education. I taught physical education in Roscoe, Illinois (north of Rockford) for 7 years. We lived in Rockton, Illinois. I received my M.S. in Educational Administration from NIU in 1978. ementary school principal in the North Boone School District (north of Belvidere) for 3 years (1981-84). We moved to New Lenox, Illinois in 1984. I served as an elementary and junior high principal in Manhattan, Illinois for 20 years. I received my Certificate of Advanced Study from Illinois State University in 1994. In 2004 I became superintendent of schools in Manhattan, a position I held until my retirement in 2013. Susan and I continue to live in New Lenox. We recently celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary.
