Howard Smith:  

Life I graduated from Louisiana Tech with a B.A. in Psychology in 1969. I then went into the Air Force by way of Officers Training School. After graduationg from OTS as a 2/LT I went home and married Linda Boyer. Our honeymoon was taken on our way to Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB, OK. After graduation from UPT we moved to Sacramento, CA (Mather AFB)and I became a Copilot in the KC-135A. While there my two sons, Robert "Keith" and Ryan Scott were born. We spent over 6 years at Mather AFB, and then moved to Okinawa, Japan. At Kadena Air Base I was an Instructor Pilot and had the job of Flight Commander and later I spent 3 years in Stan/Eval as an Evaluator / Check pilot. What a great time, we traveled all over and I was able to spend time in Japan, Korea, Guam, Philippines, Hawaii, and Australia. Oh yes, I even carried JP-7 fuel for the SR-71 spy plane to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Now, I hear the B-2 bombers have been there also. I actually trained some of the first test pilots for the B-2 bomber at my next assignment at Castle AFB as an Academic and Flight Instructor. During my tour in Okinawa, Japan my wife Linda and I separated and later divorced. My next assignment was Castle AFB near Merced, CA. While living in Merced, I met my current wife Judy. We met through my two boys Keith and Ryan and her son Chris. Judy and I married in 1982 and moved to our current home that same year. As of March 2009 we have lived in the same house in Merced for 27 years. Judy has been an elementary school teacher for many years and is now the Preschool Director of a Christian School in Merced. We have enjoyed a wonderful life together.
