Hugh's Story
I grew-up in Levittown and went to Island Trees public schools through 8th grade. Still in contact with a number of great friends from Levittown. I was an altar boy at St Bernard RC Church and played baseball and golf in the summers. I went to Chaminade High School and graduated in 1967. Played ice hockey (still do) and was member of Speech & Debate. Chaminade was truly a formative experience for me in the most positive way. Went to Notre Dame (family tradition) on NROTC scholarship where I played hockey freshman year and made great friends. Following graduation with BA (History) in 1971 I was commissioned 2d Lt USMC and chose to be an Infantry Officer (0302). Participated in combat support operations Vietnam (1972/73). Achieved MA Government (National Security Studies) from Georgetown University while stationed at HQMC working national strategy and defense budget issues 1983/89. Married Anne Rudolph following Pentagon courtship in May 1987 in Saratoga Springs NY. Was second-in-command of 1st Marine Regiment/Mech Task Force "Papa Bear" for Operation Desert Shie...Expand for more
ld/Desert Storm for liberation of Kuwait City (1990/91). Commanded 1st Battalion 4th Marines (1991/92) for return to Kuwait and support of UN operations in Somalia (Restore Hope). Retired from USMC in Nov 1994 as Lt Col after 23 years of service. Settled in San Diego with wife and 5 children (4 boys/1 girl). Spent 19 years working as City of Los Angeles Senior Sales Executive for Motorola Solutions supporting major police/fire agencies with communications systems. Retired (again!) in April 2021. Travel with my bride Anne, substitute teaching history at local private school, coaching high school hockey, and working on my woeful golf game will be priority targets. Son Kevin continuing family tradition of service to our Nation (Grandfather WW II, Great-grandfather WWI} embarked upon journey as Army warrior assigned 75th Ranger Regiment. Priority of effort at present time for our family is focused on supporting our youngest son Patrick battle vs GBM4 while completing studies as Junior in Gaming Design at University of Utah. Prayers most welcome and much appreciated.
