Hugo's Story

Life It took me a few months longer after my class to graduate because I was short of 1/2 credit.I spent the summer at Austin High School, I graduated on July 28. I attended ACC from 1990-1992.During the years that I was taking classes and later working full-time,I had the pleasure of seeing many classmates and familiar faces from Del Valle here at ACC/RVS. On May 9, 2003, after more than 17 years and 5 months,I finally moved out of Royal Palms Mobile Home Park.I now co-own a home along with a lot and live inside the city. Ever since Aug.06 I've been writing blogs about my past down to the details as much as I can still remember and it's better that I do this now while I still have the ability rather than wait 10, 20 or 30 years into the future.I've been writing 4 blogs per year since then and I expect to complete it at the end of 2015.But once that happens I may have to go back and reedit some of my older blogs as more information had come out while other blogs sounds more like an interview than a story. But I'm also considering writing a blog that's about the first years of my life that rely heavily on what my mother had told me, what I can still remember, photos and what I saw in the old 8mm films. To talk about my past makes me feel like Forrest Gump as the movie is much about him talking about his past. But some people who I have shared it with have suggested that I put together all of my blogs and publish it into a book. I've flown for the first time in my life.I've traveled to Florida, Mexico City and did some sightseeing in Los Angeles.Got to see a little more of what's out there. With the internet, I've been traveling around the world more. I'm completely single and proud of it because I get to enjoy my independence and space to the maximum! I mostly keep to myself outside of work.I spend my weekends surfing the net, taking it easy and then working out thereafter.People think that I'm married and/or have kids. In March 2005,when I had a check-up with my doctor, it was revealed that I had weighed around 240 lbs, my cholesterol was high and that my blood-sugar level w...Expand for more
as putting me at risk of getting diabetes. This left me depressed but it was a turning point in which, for over the past year, I've been working out and have lost around 55-60 lbs.I have also changed what I eat. Many people have noticed how different I look with the weight loss, including those who hadn't seen me for the past few years. Thanks to an email contact from Belgium, I've been buying personalized photos of many Star Wars actors in which I've put up on my wall. Workplace I first started to work as a work-study in the ACC-RVS Library from Aug 1990 until Dec 1991.Then became an Hourly from Jan 1992 until Nov 92. I was offered and accepted a job within the college that would pay me more and so from Nov 92 until Sept 93 I worked as a part-time Building Attendant. From Sept 93 until Jan 99 I worked as a full-time hourly Building Attendant.I was one of several that got laid-off when 99 began, I had previously survived 2 other layoffs that took place at the college but the third one finally got me. With the help and support of my family, I was hired on at TASB over a month later. I worked at TASB as a File Clerk from Mar 99 until Mar 2001. I returned to ACC/RVS to be a Building Attendant again due to a vacancy that was created when one of the workers had retired. So I've been here ever since. In Sept 2003, I received my Building Attendant Certification. In 2006, I now will celebrate 5 years of working for ACC and I await the recognition, will accomplish yet another personal goal. On October 8, 2008 I finally got my Driver's License, after so many years had passed by and that I had lost the will to get it.But later that month, thanks to my oldest brother, I got my first vehicle:A 2001 Silver Ford Ranger which I call the "Silver Bullet".But on October 26, 2013 as I headed home I would lose my truck in a three vehicle collision as I was crossing the Colorado River bridge heading north on Bastrop Highway.I was okay but Thank God that nobody else was killed nor hospitalized. But a week later I would get a new vehicle:a 2010 Dark Grey Nissan Xterra which I would call the "Grey Ghost".
