Ian's Story
Life
Time to re-write this thing. Married, two boys, live in Florida. That's the brief, everything you need to know about me version.
The longer version feels like it should be a lot more complicated, but it's not. I've been married for 13 mostly perfect years. Well, few of the years have been perfect, but the marriage nearly is! I absolutely love my wife with every ounce of my heart.
My kids are incredible. My oldest son is 12. He's smart, witty, good looking... all qualities of his mother! He's an avid soccer player - that he gets from me but he's a lot better than I ever was at that age. He's also very accomplished in Boy Scouts.
My younger son is 8 and is aiming to do everything that his older brother does, but better. It's amazing to see just how smart he has become and how good he is at the things he does. I attribute that to his brother. They are best friends and Avery teaches Gavin everything he knows.
They are both very active readers. Our monthly trips to Borders are their favorite family events because it means it's time to buy some new books. I am lucky to have the family that I've got.
More about me? Just about everything I do anymore is for kids. I am the coach of Avery's U14 soccer team. I am an assistant den leader for Gavin's Cub Scout den (my wife is the den leader). I am a reading tutor at a local elementary school through a program my company offers. And last, but not least, we are the cool house in the neighborhood, so we always have the kids' friends over.
I do enjoy getting out on the weekends with my wife. Sometim...Expand for more
es we hit a local club to dance and listen to music, sometimes we go out to eat, and sometimes we go see a movie. Basically, we are generally up for anything (and I do mean anything!). My life is not that of a jet-setter, but it certainly isn't boring. My wife and I have actually considered writing a book on how to keep a marriage exciting, but I think we're usually to busy!
My favorite hobby these days is coffee. I bought a new espresso machine this past summer. Not the kind you will find in Target, and not one of those automatic machines that you find in Starbucks. This is a damn good, commercial grade, espresso machine with which I make better cappuccino's than you've ever had (most likely). I am actually seriously considering opening a coffee shop within the next couple of years.
HERE WE GO STEELERS! HERE WE GO!! This is the number one thing that people know about me. People who have never met me before probably know that I'm a Steelers fan within five minutes if they didn't know it when they approached me. How much of a Steelers fan? I run steelreign.org - a Steelers message board. A bunch of us from that board just got together to see the Steelers pound the Jaguars here in Jax. I bought 84 tickets to the game and sold them all at face value just to make sure I had Steelers fans in the seats! I am a die-hard.
That's me, in a nutshell. I don't think I'm as complicated as I used to be. I am generally quiet and very reserved. I try to keep life simple and straight forward. I try to spend every day being happy and peaceful. I love my family.
