Ingrid's Story
Life
For anyone interested enough in reading my bio, here it is. I'm married with two children. After h.s. I went to USC and got a B.A. in Theatre and several years later returned to college (Calif. State Univ. Northridge) and received an M.S. in Counseling, School Counseling specialization. I'm the mother of two beautiful children - Dirk and Rya, and work part-time for Weight Watchers. I'm also pursuing a new career in Voice-Overs, which utilizes my theatre background. My husband and I have done extensive world travel to most of the continents and we look forward to sharing adventures with our children.
Best wishes,
Ingrid.
School
I don't know if I can say that any teacher truly inspired me, but one did make an impact on me. Mrs. Dawn McDonough was kind and listened. When I moved to Apple Valley, I was an emotional basketcase from losing my brother and his 3 friends in an auto accident a year before. She was the only teacher who cared enough to say, "Are you okay?" She checked in with me and became a guardian angel of sorts. My guidance counselor ...Expand for more
at AVHS (whose name I can't even remember!) never gave me the feeling that I could go to her. She even pulled me from an advanced math course and put me in speed reading, which was probably the stupidest decision an adult can make for a child. I should have listened to my gut and not her reasoning, "You're going into theatre anyway and won't need math." Perhaps in a small way she inspired me -- to be different when I became a guidance counselor. I didn't want any other kid to feel like I did -- alone -- and I knew that I had a lot of experiences and life lessons that I could pass on. Although I don't work in schools at this time in my life, what I learned through my training helps me work with my Weight Watchers members and keeps me grounded with my children.
College
We didn't really have caffeine-fueled all-nighters, but there were many nights during finals when a group of us went out for a Tommy's Burger. Those burgers could be tasted for 24 hours after consuming them. Domino's was another favorite of ours. It's no wonder many of us got the 'ol freshmen 10+.
