Ingrid's Story

Life I live on the South Shore of Ma. Have been in the Boston area since graduation from GHS.Received my BSN from Boston Univ and MS from Boston College. Am an active member of my Church, the local historical society, the PTA(no kids, but am interested in the local education expenditures). Have published research articles in various healthcare journals.Have been working for the Veterans Admin.Hosp System in a variety of roles for the last 36 yrs.Seven years ago, I was the recipient of the Secretary's (Department of Veterans Affairs) Award for Nursing Excellence for 2003. This was such an honor as the nomination came from my peers. The awards ceremony was wonderful and many friends from the area and my Church came to share the event with me.Have traveled widely in China and Russia and Germany. For the last 27years have been renovating a 150 year old New England Farmhouse. Have enjoyed a full and very active life, even had a short stint as a foster mother to a 16 year old young lady. Now, that was a challenge, but loved every minute of it. For those who knew that I had 2 cats, Patches passed away in June of 2001 at the ripe old age of 29 and Timothy, age 20 passed away in October of 2003. I still miss them terribly.Perhaps next year, (I keep thinking that) I will look ...Expand for more
for another companion...In Feb of 2006, I joined my parents and had a right total hip replacment. That miracle of medicine has improved my ability to live a full life and ACTIVE life.I joined an exercise group in the summer 2008, called Gutcheck.I was the oldest person in the group of 8 ages from 14-25.We all were challenged(esp.me)by the leader, an Army drill sargent!Needless to say,I found muscles I don't think that I have ever used! In December 2009 I had a Lt Total hip Replacenent--that recovery was not as easy and was somewhat delayed due to some other issues that occurred along the way. In 2006, Mom and Dad came for a visit to celebrate Dad's 90th birthday and of course we celebrated with a Lobster Dinner by the ocean. My mother had a stoke on 4/26/10. I flew home for about 3wks to help Dad with all of the arrangements to get Mom back on her feet. My Dad has moved to Westminister Village and hopefully my mother will join him soon. I may be moving back to Terre Haute in the near future, depending on what my parents need. At any rate, I am retiring from the Veterans Administration after 36 years. It has been a great run, but, it is time. Remember family comes first. So, may be seeing you in town soon. God Bless. Ingrid. Would love to hear from you all....
