Irene's Story
Who I am and where have I been? Wow...
I was the quiet one who kept to herself with the exception of a few select friends. I wasn't known as Irene, or Renie, I was Mrs. Robinson's daughter! But those of you who knew me, knew me well. If you didn't know me, oh well. Your loss. *lol*
I've been with Roger since the last semester of highschool and got married to him in 1983
I moved to Tampa right after graduation, married my husband, Roger (and yes he went to Jupiter too - he was the tall skinny geek with the suitcase and the white MG Midget)
Anyways, we moved to Tampa and he went to Tampa Tech for electrical engineering and I worked to help get us through. Then he took a job in West Palm at Bellport and we moved back to the East Coast. I took several classes at PBJC and worked in a preschool for a while, had 2 children, then ended up taking several more classes at both PBJC and Florida Atlantic University in childcare and child psychology and such (blah blah blah) and ended up being the assistant director at the child care center for a while. The preschool owner decided she wanted me to drive the school bus as well, sounded good to me, so I learned! And loved it!
Meanwhile my mom (I'm sure you all remember Mrs. Robinson in the guidance office) met a great man online and moved to New Zealand to be with him! That left the house in PSL for me and my hubby.
We moved up there and I got a job with St. Lucie County School Board driving a school bus. It may not sound like much but it's the very best job ever! When someone asks me how many kids I have, I reply "2 of my own, 3 if you count my husband, and 120 total." These children are our future! l and drive; they should get to know their children, each and every one of them. It's so much more than just a job to me.
I'm the first person the kids get to see and talk to in the morning and the last person they see before going home to their family in the afternoon and it's MY job to not only get them to school and back safely, but to get their day off to a good start and make them smile & believe in themselves. These children are our future; we have to give them a positive start to their day and in life as well.
So anyways, now my husband and I live here in Port Saint Lucie, we had a custom home built in 2006 and are living very happily ever after with our herd of Chihuahuas, an aussie cattle dog, 5 cats, a son & his fiancee, a daughter & her boyfriend, a granddaughter, etc etc etc... (and in case you are wondering, the animals have their very own room just like the kids) it's a busy house but it's a happy house. That's what really counts in life! And just recently I heard that married people are now the minority according to the 2010 census. How sad.
Back in the 80's I thought what I wanted was stay single and become a lawyer (I wanted to go to Stetson & yes, I still have the trap jaw mind that can turn things around on you and twist your words in a second) but things don't always work out as we think. When I moved to Tampa I thought I was one step closer to that dream but it faded, I fell in love and Roger became my life. And NOW I am so glad that lawyer dream faded.
I love you Roger, you were my life. Thank you for being mine.
